AirAsia bags another four awards

AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia Indonesia both receive recognition at KLIA Awards
SEPANG, 19 July – AirAsia, the world’s best low-cost airline for four consecutive years received yet another recognition for its service excellence, this time from Malaysia Airports at the recent KLIA Awards held at the Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
 
It is a proud moment for AirAsia when it was named KLIA’s ‘Airline of the Year’, as well as ‘Low Cost Airline of the Year’ during the awards. Its affiliate, AirAsia Indonesia was named ‘Foreign Airline of the Year’ and ‘Foreign Airline of the Year By Sector – South East Asia’ as well by Malaysia Airports.
 
AirAsia Berhad’s Chief Executive Officer, Aireen Omar was present at the awards ceremony to receive the four awards for both AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia Indonesia.
 
Aireen Omar, AirAsia Berhad’s Chief Executive Officer commented, “We would like to thank Malaysia Airports for this recognition as AirAsia plays a major part in contributing towards the high tourist arrivals into Malaysia with 17.9 million guests recorded in 2011. KLIA recorded 37.7 million passenger movement in the same year. The aviation industry is a volatile one, but AirAsia has always risen above every challenge that came our way and we hope to continue our relationship with Malaysia Airports in providing improved services to all air travellers through KLIA for a better traveling experience. ” 
 
Dharmadi, President Director of AirAsia Indonesia said, “We are truly honored to receive two awards from Malaysia Airports which underscore our dedication to service excellence as well as our commitment to customer satisfaction. AirAsia Indonesia is the largest Indonesian carrier by number of international passengers in 2010 and 2011, and Malaysia has become one of the top destinations for Indonesians. We hope to continue to strengthen our relationship with Malaysia Airports and to provide our guests the most pleasant experience possible.”
There was a total of 18 awards for airlines and service providers operating at KLIA given out by Malaysia Airports to honour its partners with exceptional performance for the year 2011. The awards was held to recognize and motivate all KLIA’s business partners, and is the sole award ceremony in Malaysia that pays tribute to the best performers in the nation’s aviation industry.
 
Both AirAsia Berhad as well as AirAsia Indonesia were chosen the winners of their respective categories for the awards based on its passenger movement, growth factor, international recognition and service performance in year 2011.
 
AirAsia Berhad carried a total of 17.9 million guests in 2011, while AirAsia Indonesia carried 5.1 million guests. Both recorded a 12 percent and 27.8 percent increase in passenger growth in 2011 respectively. Both carriers also recorded strong load factors of 80 percent for AirAsia Berhad and 77 percent for AirAsia Indonesia in year 2011.
 
Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports was quoted saying KLIA experienced a 10.6% growth in passenger movements compared to 2010, recording a total of 37.7 million passengers.
 
AirAsia was recently named Skytrax’s World’s Best Low Cost Airline for the fourth year running (2009. 2010, 2011, 2012), which was polled by air travellers from over 160 countries for its service excellence. AirAsia was also named Best Low Cost Airline – Asia by Skytrax as well. AirAsia also emerged tops in Aviation Week’s Top Performing Airlines Report, beating the likes of other longer-established airlines and even Europe’s largest low-cost carrier.
