Anna Hazare begins walk for democracy from Amritsar March 31, 2013 Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare on Sunday embarked on his ‘Janatantra Yatra’ (walk for democracy) here to rally support against the Congress-led UPA Government in the run up to the next general elections. Accompanied by a small group of supporters, the 75-year-old activist paid obeisance at Durgiana Mandir and Golden Temple besides paying tribute to the martyrs at Jallianwala Bagh. Golden temple being a Sunday, temple complex was teeming with visitors. Addressing a group of people outside the Jallianwala Bagh, Hazare, who was flanked by former Army Chief V K Singh, said only a mass movement will bring change in the country.Hazare said after five months a big Jan-Sansad (public rally) will be organised at Ramlila Ground in the national capital “which will seal the fate of this corrupt government”. Pervez to contest three constituencies Karachi, Chitral and Islamabad. by sagarmedia on March 31, 2013 Pakistani authorities have directed officials at airports across the country to bar former President Pervez Musharraf from going abroad. The Federal Investigation Agency formally issued written orders to immigration officials in this regard. The move came a day after the Sindh High Court issued orders that Musharraf cannot leave Pakistan without the permission of courts that are hearing cases against him. The High Court issued the directive while extending by 21 days the pre-arrest bail granted to him in connection with several cases. Musharraf plans to lead his All Pakistan Muslim League party in the upcoming general elections. He has filed his nomination papers for three parliamentary constituencies in Karachi, Chitral and Islamabad.
Serena Williams beat Sharapova lift 6th WTA Miami title Serena Williams won a record sixth Miami title as she came from a set and a break down to beat Maria Sharapova 4-6 6-3 6-0 in the Sony Open final. The American, 31, reeled off 10 games in a row to record an 11th straight win against the world number two. Sharapova, 25, has still to win in Miami after losing her fifth final. India to host 4th Clean Energy Ministerial meeting by sagarmedia on March 30, 2013 PM Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the 4th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) meeting on 17th April which among other things would assess the steps being undertaken by various countries to pursue green initiatives. Energy ministers from 23 countries, including US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, will come together in the national capital from April 16 to 18 to review the progress of clean energy initiatives, an official statement said in New Delhi. BRICS approves launch of development bank BRICS nations on Wednesday decided to establish a new development bank to finance infrastructure and to create a USD 100 billion Contingency Reserve Arrangement to tackle any financial crisis in the emerging economies. Pak SC issues contempt notice to former PM Raja Pervez Ashraf" Pak SC issues contempt notice to former PM Raja Pervez Ashraf Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice for contempt of court to former premier Raja Pervez Ashraf , saying he had tried to influence the court by asking it to form a commission to investigate graft charges against him. The notice was issued by a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary, which ordered Ashraf to appear in person in two weeks. Chaudhry observed that Ashraf had tried to influence the court by writing a letter to him on the issue of forming a commission to investigate an alleged scam in the setting up of “rental power projects”. The chief justice observed that Ashraf had already accepted the court’s decision in the case and there was no need to re-examine the verdict and form a commission. Terra Motors plan Electric car for Philippines Terra Motors plan to manufacture an electric car for Philippines thus to give firm competition to the Chinese in this segment of auto sector. A venture firm in Tokyo is eying the emerging economies in Southeast Asia. It has unveiled a new three-wheeled electric vehicle, mainly for use as a taxi in the region. Terra Motors developed the six seat-rs  vehicle is about three -meters in length . A driver’s seat followed by  passenger seats lined on both sides. Company authorities say the vehicle can run fifty kms on a two hour charge with a maximum speed of fifty kilometers per hour. Company plan to manufacture the vehicles in the Philippines and sell them later this year for about 6,300 dollars.Terra Motors hopes to meet the country’s expected demand for three-wheel electric taxis.
