Venezuela President orders 100-unit banknotes out of circulation

Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro signed an emergency decree ordering the country’s largest banknote, the 100 bolivar bill, taken out of circulation to thwart mafias he accused of hoarding cash in Colombia.
The announcement came yesterday as the government of Venezuela, a country in the midst of an economic crisis and crippled with the world’s highest inflation,prepares to
issue new banknotes and coins in values up to 200 times the
highest denomination currently available.
The President said yesterday on his TV show Contact with Maduro that in accordance with my constitutional powers and through this emergency economic decree, I have decided to take the 100 bolivar bill out of circulation in the next 72 hours. Maduro said the move was necessary after a Venezuelan investigation found that billions of bolivars, in bills of 100, were stashed away by international mafias, mainly in Colombian cities but also in Brazil.
Maduro ordered all land, air and sea possibilities closed immediately so that they do not return those notes that were taken

Paolo Gentiloni named as Italy’s new Prime Minister

Paolo Gentiloni has been named as Italy’s new Prime Minister following reformist leader Matteo Renzi’s resignation in the wake of a crushing referendum defeat.
Gentiloni, who served as the Foreign Minister under Renzi, was asked by President Sergio Mattarella to form a new centre-left government today that will guide Italy to elections due by February 2018.
A close ally of the outgoing premier, Gentiloni now has to put together his own government team ahead of a Parliamentary approval vote expected on Wednesday.

Mistry removed as Tata Industries director

Cyrus Mistry was today removed as director of Tata Industries following shareholders’ vote. Tata Industries is a subsidiary of Tata Sons.
Tata Power has called an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on the coming 26th. He is currently Chairman of Tata Power. Mistry joined the Board of Tata Sons in 2006 and was appointed Chairman of its Board in December 2012.
In a sudden and dramatic turn of events, Cyrus Mistry was on 24th of October this year sacked as Chairman of India’s largest conglomerate Tata Group and replaced by his predecessor Ratan Tata in the interim.
A five-member search committee was named, including Mr. Tata, to choose a successor within four months.

UN Secretary Gen designate Guterres to be sworn in today

Antonio Guterres, a former Portuguese Prime Minister will be sworn in today as the next UN Secretary General, succeeding Ban Ki-moon as the ninth chief of the organisation.
President of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson will administer the Oath of Office to Guterres, 67, at a special plenary meeting of the 193-member General Assembly. The Secretary-General-designate will then address the General Assembly.
Guterres was unanimously appointed by the General Assembly as the successor to Ban, after the 15-nation Security
Council had in October decided by acclamation to send his name
to the Assembly for final approval.
Mr. Guterres will assume his new role fora five-year tenure beginning January 1, 2017.
