Dec 7
India puts into orbit the remote sensing satellite Resource sat-2A successfully. The rocket took off majestically at 10.25 am today as per the schedule of Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar said that it was exciting to watch the pictures of the launch through the latest cameras from the vehicle itself. The PSLV rocket is a four stage/engine powered by solid and liquid fuel alternatively.
According to the ISRO, Resourcesat-2A is a follow on mission to Resourcesat-1 and 2, which were launched in 2003 and 2011 respectively. The new satellite Resourcesat-2A intends to continue the remote sensing data services to global users provided by the earlier two. We have a report:
The PSLV-XL variant rocket standing 44.4 metres tall and weighing 3201 ton rose into the morning skies with fierce orange flames thrusting it to the skies. It was a rare glimpse as the view was blocked by the clouds but again showed up for a few seconds with a loud roar. Todays venture of ISRO has a proven technology which puts it alongwith nine other countries in the world.
The satellite also carries two Solid State Recorders with a capacity of 200 Giga Bits each to store the images taken by its cameras which can be read out later to ground stations. The mission life of Resourcesat-2A is five years. These cameras will send clear and specific pictures of areas where exactly the various resources are located at an indepth level.

Logjam in Parliament continues over demonetisation

Demonetisation issue continues to disrupt proceedings in the Parliament with both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha witnessing adjournment till 2 pm as soon as the houses reassembled at noon after first adjournment. In Lok Sabha the opposition members including Congress, TMC and Left continued their protest demanding discussion on demonetisation under the rule that provides for voting. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to take up matters of public importance even as the opposition members continued to raise slogans. Later, Speaker adjourned the House till 2 PM.
Earlier, the House when assembled for the day, Opposition trooped into the Well shouting slogans even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present for a brief while. Mallikarjuna Kharge of Congress reiterated demand for discussion under the rule that entails voting. Parliamentary Affairs minister Anant Kumar said the Government has already agreed for a discussion under Rule 193 that disallows voting.
The Rajya Sabha was also adjourned for the second time till 2 pm on demonetization issue. There was no change in the situation when the House reassembled at Noon after its first adjournment. Chairman Mohd Hamid Ansari tried to conduct Question Hour but in vain. Both the treasury and opposition benches indulged in slogan shouting forcing adjournment of the House.
Earlier, in the morning, Leader of the House Arun Jaitley charged the Opposition with creating ruckus under some pretexts. He recalled that the Government has readily agreed to the Opposition demand for a full-fledged debate on demonetization since day-one. He said most of the leaders have already participated in the debate. Mr Jaitley urged the opposition to continue the discussion that has already been initiated last month.
Prior to that, Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged, 84 people in the last one month have died due to the Centre’s move. He asked how much of black money has come back into the financial system.
Naresh Aggarwal of Samajwadi Party said the Opposition is ready for discussion but in presence of Prime Minister. Ms Mayawati also made some remarks which could not be heard in the din. Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien said it is on record and urged the opposition to start discussion in which Prime Minister would take part. He adjourned the House as noisy scenes prevailed.

Syrian army liberates more Aleppo districts

Syrian government forces have reclaimed five more districts in the eastern part of Aleppo, according some reports suggest up to 85 percent of the area, previously controlled by rebels, has now been liberated.“By the evening of December 6, the Syrian army established full control over five more neighborhoods in eastern Aleppo,” the Reconciliation Center said in a statement on Tuesday. This puts the number of eastern Aleppo neighborhoods liberated from rebels in the recent offensive by government forces to 35, it said.
Jihadists rebels surrender almost all of east Aleppo.
Syrian state news agency Sana, the Syrian army inflicted “heavy losses” upon militants in five neighborhoods and forced many to flee. The army also reportedly prevented a planned car bomb attack on a military post, which allegedly had been intended to boost the “deteriorating morale of the terrorists.”
Aleppo has been split between the Syrian government and rebel and militant factions since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011. Since operations to liberate the eastern districts of Aleppo in mid-November began, the Syrian army has made successful advances and now controls 65 percent of the city, the military said.
On Monday, two Russian medical specialists were killed and another injured in a mortar attack on a mobile military hospital in Aleppo. Moscow regretted the “more than limited” reaction to the killing of the Russian medic by the international community, in particular from US partners, Russia’s Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
“The Russian side is virtually single-handedly trying to provide humanitarian assistance to the residents who flee from eastern Aleppo, escaping from the captivity of the militants,”Peskov stressed, adding that the Kremlin would welcome a “more proactive stance”from the West on the issue.
France was the only Western government to officially condemn the shelling of a Russian mobile hospital in Aleppo.“France condemns the December 5 shelling, which targeted a hospital in western part of Aleppo and killed several civilians as well as two medics,” Romain Nadal, French Foreign Ministry spokesman, said in a statement. According to the French side, the Aleppo attack “represent[ed] a new serious violation of the norms of international law.”
“France urges all the parties of the conflict to provide protection to medical workers and medical facilities in accordance with the Resolution 2286 of the UN Security Council (UNSC),”Nadal stressed.
