Council of ICSI said that Students are the life line of the
Institute and the profession. He
shared that New syllabus for Executive
and Professional Programme, which is
contemporary in approach and global in perspective is being launched soon.
He added that the New Syllabus gives greater emphasis on due
diligence, financial management, compliance management, corporate governance,
sustainability and ethics ,etc comprises Seven
Papers at Executive Programme Level and Nine Papers at Professional Programme
Level including one paper to be opted by the students out of the five elective
papers viz., (i) Banking Law and Practice (ii) Capital, Commodities and Money
Market (iii) Insurance Law and Practice (iv) Intellectual Property Rights-Law
and Practice; and (v) International Business- Laws and Practice.
The Council has decided to implement the new syllabus for Executive Programme w.e.f 1st February, 2013 and the Professional Programme w.e.f 1st September 2013.
Now Students who have completed their
Foundation Examination of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or Common Proficiency Test (CPT) of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad
recaognized as equivalent thereto by the Council are exempted from CS Foundation programme and are eligible to apply for
CS Executive programme.

Rajiv Bajaj, Immediate past Chairman, and Chairman of Brand Building &
Innovation Committee, NIRC-ICSI briefed on the results of Company Secretaries examinations held in December 2013, which has been declared today, the 25th February, 2013
at New Delhi and released to all the regional and chapter offices of the
Institute throughout the country for information of students and general
public.
The
Institute declared the toppers in all the stages viz. Foundation Program,
Executive Program & Professional Program. Mr. Abdullah Rashid Fakih scored
first rank in the Professional Program and belongs to Pune Chapter of ICSI, Mr Amit
Nolakha scored first rank in the Executive Program and belongs to Bhilwara
Chapter of NIRC & Ms. Nisha Garg scored first rank in the Foundation
Program and belongs to Ludhiana Chapter of NIRC.North India is always
leading in excellent results.
Northern India
Regional Council (NIRC) is one of the four regional councils of the Institute
of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). NIRC represents the states of Himachal
Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab,
Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, National Capital Territory of Delhi and
Union Territory of Chandigarh. NIRC has
30 chapters and more than 9500 members on the rolls and 1,53,000 students
spread over different parts of the region.

Shyam Agarwal, Vice-Chairman, Northern India Regional Council said that the
Company Secretaries profession is well established in India with a strong cadre
of about 33,000 members including about 5,000 members holding certificate of
practice. A Company Secretary is an
independent professional and is
governed by the code of conduct contained in the Company Secretaries Act, 1980
and is, therefore, subject to disciplinary jurisdiction of the Institute. The
Institute enforces strict code of conduct and disciplinary mechanism to ensure
high ethical standards from Company Secretaries in their professional work.

Profession
of Company Secretaries is a developing profession. The membership of the Institute
has been widely recognised for various purposes by the Central Government, State
Governments, judicial, quasi-judicial authorities, financial institutions, etc.
Company Secretaries have been authorised to appear before tribunals and quasi
judicial bodies such as CLB, Securities Appellate Tribunal, Income Tax Authorities,
Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal, VAT authorities, Competition
Commission of India etc.

the theme of NIRC is Brand
Building and Innovation.
NIRC of the ICSI through professional development programmes seeks to impart
continuing education to its members, to keep them updated in the various
developments in the relevant laws as well as corporate and business environment.
CS Rajiv Bajaj, Chairman of Brand Building Committee congratulated the media
for playing a positive role in constructive nation building by spreading the
awareness about the professional programmes of the Institute.
