She was the founder director of the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, an institute for imparting training in dance, drama, music and puppetry, in the city of Ahmedabad. A winner of distinguished awards and citations in recognitions of her contribution to art. She has trained over 18,000 students in Bharatnatyam and Kathakali

A suicide bomber, riding an explosive-filled car, targeted a mini-bus of a private TV channel on Wednesday evening in the capital city, Kabul. At least eight people were killed and 28 others injured, sources told Afghanistan Times. The mini-bus was carrying broadcaster staff of TOLO TV when came under the attack. The target was bus of the Kaboora Production, part of the Moby Group, a media company running TOLO channel, the country’s popular private TV channel, Kabul police spokesman Basir Mujahid said. TOLO TV confirmed that the attacker targeted its bus.

Eighty players make the halfway cut

Kensville Golf & Country Club, Ahmedabad, January 20, 2016: Bengaluru’s Syed Saqib Ahmed (76-71) and Delhi’s Wasim Khan (73-74) led the field after round two of the PGTI’s Final Qualifying Stage for the 2016 season being held at the Kensville Golf & Country Club near Ahmedabad. The two golfers were tied for the lead at three-over-147.

Wasim Khan made three birdies against a bogey and two double bogeys in his round of two-over-74.

“I played well today, hit it close on a number of occasions and also rolled in a long birdie putt on the ninth. However, the two three-putts that led to double bogeys were a big setback. It was a tough scoring day since the pin positions were tricky and it was also windy. It’s great to be the joint halfway leader. I’ll now look to finish the week with some good scores,” said Wasim.

Syed Saqib Ahmed, who shared the lead with Wasim, shot the day’s only sub-par round. His one-under-71 featured four birdies and three bogeys.

Patna-based amateur Aman Raj, Noida golfers Arjun Singh Chaudhri and Raju Singh and Gurgaon’s Kunaal Bhatia were all tied third at four-over-148.

The halfway cut fell at 15-over-159. The top eighty players made the cut.

At the end of round four on Friday, the top 35 players (+ ties) will earn full cards for the 2016 PGTI season.

Delhi Waveriders edge past Jaypee Punjab Warriors

Tuesday, 20 January 2016, Chandigarh: The Delhi Waveriders today defeated Jaypee Punjab Warriors 5-4 in a high energy match played at Chandigarh in the 4th Coal India Hockey India League. The third match of the league unlike the last match played at the same venue yesterday, witnessed an attacking game with goals raining from both the ends, ensuring the spectators enjoyed every minute of the match.

The new scoring system has kept all the teams on their toes adding excitement to the already fast game of Hockey. This came to display once again today as the third match of the 4th Coal India Hockey India League began with Delhi Waveriders pressing hard on Jaypee Punjab Warriors from the very first minute. The attacking game of the visitors soon showed results when Yuvraj Walmiki scored a field goal in the 9th minute giving Delhi Waveriders an early lead of 2-0. The visitors could not hold on to their lead as the hosts Jaypee Punjab Warriors struck back with an equaliser in the very next minute through Matt Ghodes. The game there after saw numerous unsuccessful penetrations into the opponents circle from both the sides, until the 24th minute when Rupinder Pal Singh converted a penalty corner to give the Waveriders a hard fought lead of 3-2 in the game.  The visitors pressed harder and were again rewarded with their second penalty corner in the 28th minute which too was converted beautifully through Mark Pearson giving the Delhi Waveriders a comfortable two goal (4-2) lead in the game. The hosts pressed hard on the counter and successfully converted a penalty in the 29th minute through Christopher Ciriello, to lag behind at 3-4 at the end of the first half.

The second half began on an attacking note with the Delhi Waveriders striking in the 36th minute through a penalty corner conversion from Rupinder Pal Singh extending their lead to 5-3. Jaypee Punjab Warriors tried many attempts thereafter to reduce the gap but could not capitalise on the opportunities that came their way. Even a penalty corner conversion in the 54th minute through Jake Whetton could not help them much as the match came to an end with Delhi Waveriders defeating Jaypee Punjab Warriors 5-4.

The Coal India Goal of the Match award of INR 50,000 was presented by Mr. Binay Dayal, Director – Technical, CMPDI to Yuvraj Walmiki of Delhi Waveriders, while Jake Whetton from Jaypee Punjab Warriors won the Most Entertaining Player of the Match award. Rupinder Pal Singh from Delhi Waveriders walked away with the Man of the Match award of INR 50,000 while his team mate Mandeep Singh won the INR 25,000 Hero Emerging Player of the Match award.
