QUAKE JOLTS PARTS OF PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN According to European seismological centre here, the intensity of the quake was recorded as 5.6 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was the Himalayan mountain range. The tremors were felt in Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, Murree, Gilgit, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Haripur, Hazara, Lahore and the federal capital among other parts of the country where residents evacuated homes and buildings out of fear. No casualty or damages, however, reported from any part of the country. The earthquake tremors were also felt in the border areas of Afghanistan.
WESTERN EUROPE IN HEATWAVE Heat soared as temp scaled 40 degrees (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in Spain and Portugal on Monday prompting health concerns and the scorching heat was expected to move north to France and Britain later in the week. The soaring temperatures prompted Spain´s national weather office to put the region of Cordoba on red alert, the highest level on the scale, meaning the weather posed an “extreme risk” to health. Now withdrawal of instant noodles Top Ramen Jun 30 Indo Nissin Foods has ordered the withdrawal of its instant noodles brand Top Ramen from the Indian market following an advisory from central food safety regulator, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, FSSAI. The move comes in the wake of the controversy over Maggi noodles, after which the FSSAI had ordered the testing of all instant noodles, pastas and macaroni brands sold by seven companies to check compliance of norms. A statement from Indo Nissin Foods Private Limited said, they had sought clarification from FSSAI since Top Ramen product approval is pending with them.
