 In the US, one of the two police officers who assaulted the 57-year-old Indian man in Alabama has been arrested. Addressing a press conference, Larry Muncey, the Madison City Chief of Police said that Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI will also be conducting a probe into the matter to find out if there were any federal violations in the incident. Muncey also apologised to the victim Sureshbhai Patel and his family for the assault by two police officers, without any provocation. Madison City Chief of Police also proposed termination of police officer Parker, who has been arrested for third-degree assault. On the 6th of this month, Patel was violently assaulted by the police officials without any provocation that left him partially paralysed. His family has filed a lawsuit. Patel family's attorney Henry F Sherrod said that they are suing the city of Madison and two police officers for assaulting Patel without any basis. Several Indian-American organisations and rights bodies not only condemned the brutality but also demanded action against the police official. |
