Unidentified drones reappear over Paris for 2nd night

Unidentified drones flew over Paris for a second night in a row, police said Wednesday. Witnesses and security forces reported at least five incidents overnight Tuesday to Wednesday over central Paris, a police source told AFP. Authorities remain unable to catch any of the operators or determine whether the flyoversare malicious in nature.

Palestinian mosque in West Bank set alight, damaged

A Palestinian mosque was reportedly set alight in the West Bank on Wednesday. Graffiti in Hebrew at the scene suggested the attack was carried out by a far-right Israeli group, Reuters reported, citing officials. No one was hurt in the overnight attack in Al-Jaba’ah village near Bethlehem. The mosque’s windows were broken and something burning was thrown inside, according to Mayor No’man Hamdan.

France warns Russia to face more EU sanctions 'if Mariupol, Ukraine, attacked'

Moscow will face more EU sanctions if self-defense forces in eastern Ukraine attack Ukraine’s port of Mariupol, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Wednesday. The deputy commander of self-defense forces in Donetsk, Eduard Basurin, on Tuesday denied Kiev’s statement that there were serious clashes in villages near Mariupol. He said there had been provocations from the Ukrainian side, but no major incidents, Reuters reported.

Houthis take over special forces army camp in Yemen capital

Armed men from Yemen’s dominant Houthi group took over a special forces army camp in the capital, Sanaa, early on Wednesday after overnight fighting, Reuters reported. The clashes in the army camp started late in the evening on Tuesday when Houthis shelled the camp with heavy weaponry, soldiers said. Houthi fighters seized Sanaa in September. President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi escaped to Aden in the south last week after a month under house arrest. On Tuesday, the president retracted his resignation.

At least 132 ISIS fighters killed in fighting with Kurdish militia – monitor

At least 132 fighters of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) have been killed since Saturday in fighting with Kurdish militia, Reuters reported. The militia was backed by US-led strikes in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasaka. The Kurdish YPG forces which drove IS from Kobani last month with the help of airstrikes had seized 70 villages in the offensive, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The northeastern corner of Syria borders territory controlled by IS in Iraq.
