Egyptian Coptic Christian mother forgives ISIS for beheading her two sons
Egypt, February 22, 2015: “The Bible tells us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us,” says Beshir, the brother of martyrs Bishoy Estafanos Kamel and Samuel Estafonas Kamel
IS beheaded 21 Eyptian Coptic Christians in Libya recently shocking the civilized world. For the heartless and hateful act of the IS, how do you think a mother would respond if two of her sons were among those killed mercilessly by the IS?
A 60-year-old woman in Egypt, mother of Bishoy Estafanos Kamel, 25 and Samuel Estafanos Kamel, 23, who were killed by the IS, is not angry. In fact, if she were to find an IS man who killed her sons, she would do the unthinkable.
“I will ask God to open his eyes and invite him to our house,” she told her son Beshir, who asked his mother what her response would be if she came across an IS man on the street.
Beshir told his mother’s feelings in a phone interview to SAT7ARABIC.
What are Beshir’s feelings towards the IS and how does he respond to the fact that his two brothers have been killed by the violent group?
His answer to the television channel should come as an eye opener to the IS.
Here’s what Beshir said: (My brothers) are a pride to Christianity. I am proud of them and I walk with my head held high. ISIS gave us more than we could have asked from them when they didn’t edit out the part where they declared their faith and called out the name of Jesus Christ. ISIS has helped us strengthen our faith. Yes, believe me. I thank ISIS because they did not cut out the audio when they screamed declaring their faith,” he said.
Beshir said, “In fact, in the village, more than feeling sad, they are feeling happy and congratulating one another because so many from the village laid down their lives for Jesus Christ”.
Their faith in the Lord is not shaken at all. “Since the Roman times, we as Christians have been targeted to be martyred,” he pointed out.
Beshir has no hatred towards the ISIS. “The Bible tells us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us,” he said.
Responding quickly to a request from the TV programme host, Beshir prayed openly saying: “Dear God, please open their (ISIS) eyes to be saved and to quit their ignorance, and the wrong teachings they were taught.”
