Sri Lanka Tour: Coca-Cola India XI Win Three-Match Series 1-0

 Coca-Cola India XI Defeated Sri Lanka U-17 in 1st Match; next Two Matches Washed Out;
Colombo, 01 June 2013:  Coca-Cola India XI won the three-match series against Sri Lanka Under-17 national cricket team 1-0 in the Coca-Cola Sri Lanka Tour, thanks to their victory in the first match as the remaining two matches could not be played due to heavy rain in Colombo.
Coca-Cola India XI, an under-16 team, won the first match on 28th May, beating Sri Lanka U-17 by 103 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Officials abandoned the second match (29th May) after 43 overs due to bad condition of the ground and third match (31st May) was washed out without a ball being bowled.
Vikas Dixit was adjudged Man-of-the-Series for his all-round display, scoring 132 runs and taking one wicket. In the first match. Vikas’ brilliant century helped Coca-Cola India XI beat Sri Lanka U-17 at FTZ Ground. The Delhi-boy also received the Man-of-the-Match award for his match-saving century. He scored 30 runs in the second match.
The first match too was delayed due to rain and the number of overs was reduced to 47. Vikas arrived on the pitch when Coca-Cola India XI lost three wickets in just 6.5 overs at the score of 43. He held his end  with   an eye-catching innings.
Vikas managed to score his century in the second-last ball of the innings and remained unbeaten at 102 to take his team’s score to 233 for 8. In the second innings, he picked-up a crucial wicket and helped his team to restrict SL U-17 at 130 for 7.
The Second match was called-off after 43.5 overs when match officials found the ground in bad conditions due to heavy rain. Coca-Cola India XI batted first and scored 185 for 7 with the help of Shivam Chauhan’s half century (57) and Vikas Dixit (30 not out).
