Sony 65-inch, 55-inch Bravia X-series 4K TVs launched in India

New Delhi, 18thJune, 2013: Continuing with its strong commitment to provide the best picture & sound experience, Sony India today announced the launch of IndiaⳠfirst 4K[i] televisions in 65 & 55. The current launches are an extension of 84 (213.5 cms) 4K TV that was introduced by the company last year. The 4K*1 BRAVIA screen contains no less than 8 million individual pixels (3,840 x 2,160 pixels). ThatⳠfour times more detail than a Full HD TV. The TVⳠpowerful 4K X-Reality PRO processing engine up-scales any standard definition content to 4K* resolution irrespective of its source. The 4K TV in 65 (165 cms) and 55 (140 cms) screen sizes will be available at MRP of for Rs. 4,04,900 and Rs. 3,04,900 respectively.

According to Mr. Kenichiro Hibi, Managing Director, Sony India,  the years, Sony India has established market leadership in flatpanel televisions category and we aim to further strengthen this position with the newly launched line-up of 4K BRAVIA Televisions, in addition to the other series announced this year. BRAVIA is the largest category contributor towards overall sales of Sony India and contributed 35% towards the company sales in FY12. With the launch today, we are targeting a bigger market for 4K TVs by introducing the technology at a very strategic price-point. We will be increasing our BRAVIA marketing budget to Rs. 250 crore and channel counters to 7,000 in FY13.

The X9004A series of 4K* LED TVs will provide many technological advances to achieve stunning picture quality. TRILUMINOSTMDisplay LED backlighting is used in the TV which significantly achieves wider color gamut and provides a far more natural and vivid viewing experience with a heightened sense of depth. 4K X-Reality PRO the processing engine up-scales any standard definition content to 4K* resolution irrespective of its source from TV broadcast, web videos, blu-ray discs to even low resolution smartphone clips. Also, 4K content will be made available from Sony Pictures in the form of Blu-ray discs with 4K re-mastered logo. These discs will have extra information encoded into them, which the 4K X- Reality Pro can use to deliver fantastic 4K picture quality.

Along with offering the best-ever picture quality, the X9004 series TVs boosts of extraordinary audio enabled by WorldⳠfirst Magnetic Fluid Speaker design for TV. Unique to Sony, Magnetic Fluid Speaker technology allows a thinner, more efficient loudspeaker that offers faithful reproduction of high-fidelity sound.

Offering seamless connectivity, the X9004 Series offers a wide range of connectivity options to enhance the user experience. With the new NFC feature, one can simply touch an Xperia[ii] smartphone (NFC compatible models) with the sleek one-touch remote and see the phone’s screen super-size on BRAVIA From photos, music, apps, everything’s mirrored on the TV. In addition, the 4K LED TV has built in wi-fi and supports direct 3G dongle plug in while offering a wide range of internet connectivity services from Sony entertainment network.

For 2013, Sony will launch 20 new BRAVIA models including the 4K BRAVIA TVs. The new range has stunning features like X-Reality PRO and TriluminosTM display. The series extend SonyⳠnew design concept, 㓥nse of Quartz䠴o match the exterior aesthetics for home with a striking, angular, faceted outer cabinet – incorporating the Sense of Quartz design concept.

All the models in W series offers Wi-Fi Connectivity along with Smart connect features such as One-touch connect, direct 3G dongle plug in, MHL and TV SideViewroviding greater control and additional content options by interconnecting media sources across home and mobile entertainment ecosystem.

The 4K BRAVIA  HD LED TV contains 3,840 X 2,160 pixels each for red,green and blue which brings enormous pixel resolutions and bring immense stunning quality the real life to the content.
The processing engine up-scales any standard definition content to 4K* resolution irrespective of its source from TV broadcast ,web videos, blu-rays to even low resolution smartphone clips thus bring life-like TV image on the large 4K* screen.
