Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is to meet with representatives of ten days of ongoing anti-government demonstrations on Wednesday. Demonstrations began in Turkey's largest city Istanbul in protest against a plan to redevelop a square in the center of the city has taken political dimensions on policy of the government.
The protests spread to other cities as demonstrators called Erdogan's policies authoritarian. Thousands of protesters have hit the streets of Ankara and Istanbul following the Turkish Prime Minister's refusal to step down. Demonstrations have been going on for over 10-days in Turkey. At a news conference in the capital, Ankara, on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said the prime minister will meet with the leader of the demonstrations and other protestors on Wednesday.This is the first time a member of the administration has talked of holding a direct meeting with demonstrators.Arinc said the prime minister will listen to their thoughts.He also issued a warning to protesters who have barricaded roads in central Istanbul. He said illegal demonstrations will no longer be tolerated.Erdogan has previously told the protesters that his patience has limits. It is believed that the supporters of the prime minister are planning to hold counter-demonstrations from Saturday
