Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have agreed to make every effort to resolve bilateral trade issues through dialogue.Li met with Merkel in Berlin on Sunday. He started his 3-day visit to Germany on Saturday.
The European Union proposed in May that its member countries impose a new duty on Chinese-made solar panels because of unfair low prices.
In their meeting, Merkel said Germany will hold intensive talks with China to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Li said that China wants to resolve the issue through effort and dialogue.
The EU also says it will investigate Chinese-made telecom equipment because it says China is pricing them too cheaply.
Some people in Germany are concerned that deterioration of relations with China may negatively affect the export of vehicles and other goods from Germany to China.
