Vani Kapoor starts as favourite at the Tollygunge Golf Club in the second leg
Kolkata, February 3, 2014: The Tollygunge Golf Club, Kolkata is all set to play host to the second leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf tour 2014 which is slated to begin in the city tomorrow. Vani Kapoor, winner of the first leg will start as a favourite while local golfer Neha Tripathi will look to rediscover her form of last year, when she won the Hero Order of Merit. Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra, who also hails from the City of Joy, will look to establish her dominance in the domestic circuit.
The 2014 season got off to a great start with Vani making a great comeback to emerge victorious over Sharmila Nicollet in testing conditions at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club last month. It was a tough first leg for all the golfers as scoring was extremely difficult under harsh weather conditions. Shweta Galande, who finished tied third with Neha Tripathi, showed consistency in the first leg and will look to put up another good show.
Saaniya Sharma, Pallavi Jain, Vandana Agarwal, Ankita Tiwana, Preetinder Kaur, Nikki Ponappa, Meghna Bal, Vaishavi Sinha and Priya Puri will complete the field.
The Tollygunge golf club is one of the premier golf courses in the country and it offers some unique challenges to the players in the lush green course.
The Rs. 5,00,000 event is the second in the series of 14 this year.
