India Traders for nationwide protest
01.12.2011 06:00:08 - 'Bharat Bandh' called by Confederation of All India Traders on December 1 to protest the Centre's decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail.Opposition parties in India JDU,BJP,with the Left coming out strongly against America's habit of interfering in India's domestic policies, alleging it violated sovereignty.
(live-PR.com) - Former Haryana Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala said that their party would actively join the nationwide protest on December 1."The Congress Government has taken a wrong decision by allowing the FDI in retail as the move would ruin around 20 crore small and big traders in the country."

adjournment motion in Lok Sabha on Monday and efforts are on for floor coordination among opposition parties including BJP, the Left, AIADMK, besides those supporting UPA such as BSP and SP.Opposition sources maintained the aim was to bring even UPA allies like Trinamool Congress and DMK on board. These parties have already expressed their opposition to the government decision on FDI.
NDA Convener Sharad Yadav claimed that the entire opposition will remain united on this issue in Parliament.
"Parliament will not run at the cost of people. This decision of government will render crores of small business and vendors unemployed and destroy the unique village economy of the country," he said.
UPA government cabinet nod to kick open for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the retail space, Foreign retailer can directly establish their own outlets has led to the apprehension of either Indian retailers, both big or small, may not be able to withstand the sudden onslaught of global competition.

Amidst noisy scenes, the Presiding Officer, Mr. P.C. Chako adjourned the House till today. Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha also.Finance Minister Pranab Mukhjee has said the government is committed to break the logjam in the Parliament.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi he said that government is ready and willing to discuss all the issues in the Parliament.Defending Government's decision to allow FDI in retail, the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee briefed party MPs about the rationale behind the decision. He also explained to them the steps being taken to address inflation and black money to counter to opposition attack.
Mukherjee was deputed to apprise the party MPs about the government's actions and positions.He told the Congress Parliamentary Party that the move to allow 51 percent FDI in multi-brand retail and 100 percent in single brand will help bridging the gap between farm-gate and consumer prices. Commerce Minister Anand Sharma will give a detailed briefing on FDI to the party MPs today.
