Institut français India awarded DELF Junior certificates to Indian students

The Institut français India (IFI) of the Embassy of France in India was pleased to host the DELF Junior certificate award ceremony. An official diploma in French language studies, DELF Junior is issued by France’s Ministry of National Education. Similar to the Cambridge First Certificate for English language learners, this diploma is valid for life, and is awarded and recognized around the world.
At a ceremony held on Friday 18 November 2016 at the newly-renovated premises of Institut français India (IFI), Dr Bertrand de Hartingh, Counsellor of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, Embassy of France and IFI Country Director presented awards to 99 students that topped in each DELF level.
“France ranks second worldwide in terms of education, and first in mathematics,” Dr. de Hartingh said, adding “Students with B2-level proficiency in French eligible for free tuition at France’s world-class state universities teaching in the French medium.”
“There are 215 Delhi Public Schools teaching French,” DPS Society Chairman Dr V K Shunglu said, outlining the importance of French, which is in fact the most-taught foreign language in India.
Certificates were awarded to students from fifteen Delhi Public School branches, from A1, A2 & B1 DELF levels.
