Neha eyes hat-trick at BPGC
Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2016
Mumbai, February 22, 2016: After consecutive victories in the last two events, Neha Tripathi will look to keep the momentum going and will aim for her third title on the trot in the fifth Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club. The INR 6,00,000 event will see 18 professionals vying for the top honours and will be played from 23rd – 25th February.
Neha is currently placed third in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,78,500 in four appearances and will be eager to continue the winning run. However, the professional from Kolkata will be up against a strong field and will face a stiff challenge from the likes of Smriti Mehra, Kiran Matharu, Sharmila Nicollet and Gursimar Badwal.
Overseas player Kiran Matharu currently leads the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 3,16,000 with two runner-up finishes in four appearances. She is yet to win a title this season and will be keen to break the jinx at this event. Gursimar Badwal has been a consistent performer on the Tour but has struggled to capitalise on some crucial situations in the field. The professional from Kapurthala will be eager to make amends and will push for her maiden professional title.
Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra, placed sixth on the money list with total earnings of INR 2,43,300, hasn’t been at her best in the present season and will be eyeing a turnaround at BPGC. Hero Motocorp sponsored Bengaluru golfer Sharmila Nicollet has only played in the last two events and is still searching for her first victory. She would be keen to end the drought with a win in Mumbai. This event will also see Sonam Chugh, a well known name in corporate golf, making her debut as a professional on the Tour. Other golfers to watch out for are Pune’s Shweta Galande, Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma and the Delhi duo of Ankita Tiwana and Mehar Atwal.
The Bombay Presidency Golf Club is one of the oldest and most renowned golf courses in Mumbai. The picturesque par 70 golf course is all set to test the players with its tight fairways and unpredictable sea breeze.

Massive Rally of Farmers, Workers, Fisher Folks, Adivasis and Project Affected People from Ten States will be Converging on 24 Feb at Parliament Street, New Delhi
@
IWPC,Windsor Place, Delhi,
February 22 (Monday), 3:30 -4:30 PM
Dear Friends,
Subsequent government policies have for long ignored the demands of its most poor and marginalised sections. The attempts at diluting the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 was met with huge resistance and struggle faced by the government from all sections of people; farmers, fishworkers, dalits and adivasis and landless groups came together across the country to resist the draconian clauses on doing away with social impact assessment and consent from affected people. Massive rallies in Delhi and everywhere else in the country made the government go back on its ‘urgent need’ for more acquisition and passed the buck to the states to design laws to facilitate land grabbing and plundering of natural resources. The struggle has brought trade unions, farmer unions and social movements closer in highlighting the failure of the government to ensure constitutionally-protected rights of adivasis and other forest dwelling communities.
The attempts to dilute the progressive Forest Rights Act, 2006 are also ongoing and the role of central and state governments in ignoring the provisions of the law points to the complete disregard for laws and constitutional processes. In Chhattisgarh, the state government has gone so far as cancelling community rights of adivasis to favour mining in declared No-Go areas, even though Gram Sabha resolutions in 20 villages have vehemently opposed mining. The ignoring of environment laws to focus on development also needs a special mention.
It is an attack on all fronts. On one hand, whistleblowers, human rights defenders, journalists and activists across the country are targeted, beaten up and portrayed as ‘anti-national’ elements and defaulting corporations are given tax exemptions in the tunes of thousands of crores. Bhumi Adhikar Andolan condemns and demands immediate action on the recent attack on Soni Sori in Bastar, targeting of students in JNU, high handedness of the police and administration in collusion with goons, and the hate politics propagated throughout the country.
On 24th February, 2016 (Wednesday) a massive rally of farmers, workers and various movements is being organized at Parliament Street, where thousands of people from villages and cities across the country will be staging their protest against these issues.
To discuss these urgent attacks and the rally, a press conference is being held at Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) on 22nd February (Monday) at 3:30pm.
The meeting will be addressed by senior leaders from Bhumi Adhikar Andolan including Hannan Mollah, (All India Kisan Sabha), Praful Samantra (National Alliance of Peoples’ Movements (NAPM), Dr Sunilam (Kisan Sangharsh Samiti), Ashok Chowdhary and Roma (All India Union of Forest Working People(AIUFWP).

The home taking time to settle, took their time and slowly kept up the pressure on the Shillong-based club for rest of the half, but was unable to break them down. Douhou, meanwhile, had an opportunity to equalize before half time, but his try was sailed over.
The first half ended with Shillong Lajong leading by a goal.
The second half began with both the teams playing aggressively. The home side pushed hard and made most of their forays into the opponents half via the livewire Juan.
Into the 55th minute, DSK Shivajians earned a free-kick on the left, when Juan was tripped by the opponent. Douhou who took the kick, sailed the ball well to the second post only to see Zohmingliana Ralte crash his header onto the horizontal.
Four minutes later, DSK Shivajians hard work was rewarded. Juan played the ball wide to Lalhmangaihsanga Ralte. Finding space, Ralte whipped in a cross which was well meat by Aser Pierric Dipanda’s header leaving the SLFC keeper no chance .
Juan and Dipanda constructed another chance in the 64th minute, but unfortunately, the ‘keeper Vishal Kaith collected safely.
Deep into the second half, the home side ‘keeper Subrata Paul showed his brilliance rushing out to thwart a Uilliams run. The save helped DSK Shivajians survive, but Paul injured himself in the process and had to be substituted.
