THYSSENKRUPP JOINS THE MAKE IN INDIA MISSION

TO SET UP A MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN THE WORLD’S FASTEST GROWING ELEVATOR MARKET
Mumbai, October 14, 2015: ThyssenKrupp Elevator, a part of diversified industrial group ThyssenKrupp AG,  today announced it will set up a state-of-the-art  multipurpose manufacturing plant in the Chakan Industrial Area in Pune, Maharashtra, with an investment of 44 million euros (₹300 crore).
This facility will enable the company to cater to increasing demands from the local market, and is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision, aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing.
On this occasion, Dr. Michael Thiemann, CEO, ThyssenKrupp India said, “India has ushered in a paradigm shift with its ambitious vision, ‘Make in India’, to boost the local manufacturing sector and uplift the economy. We are eager to participate in this growth by investing ahead of the curve and support the rapid urbanisation in the country through locally manufactured, high-end technology engineering solutions”.
India has some of fastest-growing urban areas in the world and by 2020, the country will have 58 urban conglomerations. There has been a vast increase in the number of high-rise buildings constructed in the country, and with efficient mobility as a key factor in buildings that scale new heights, it is no surprise that India is also the fastest growing elevator market in the world. In view of these elements, ThyssenKrupp Elevator is seizing the moment and focusing on localising its production in the country.
Commenting on the new facility, Mr. Bharat Vishnani, Managing Director of ThyssenKrupp Elevator India, said, “With the government focused on building 100 Smart Cities, including new housing complexes, airports, malls, railway stations, and harbours, we are expecting to see a significant increase in demand for mobility solutions in India. Through our expertise in smart mobility products and long-standing presence in India, ThyssenKrupp is perfectly poised to support this aspect of India’s growth story”.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator aims to complete the new facility in 2017 and achieve 95% manufacturing localisation in the country in the next 3-4 years. The facility’s initial capacity of 6,000 units per year will be extended to 10,000 units per year in FY 2019/20. In addition, the company will establish a SEED Campus (ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s training academy) on-site to improve service efficiency in the field. ThyssenKrupp Elevator will also transition key departments, such as contract engineering, from Mumbai to Pune, with the intention of localising the workforce and building on local talent.
To better cater to local demand, ThyssenKrupp Elevator plans to introduce new elevator and escalator products which are innovative and fully-adjusted to Indian market requirements.
In addition, the company plans to strengthen its Maintenance Services business in the country through highly trained engineers and technicians providing timely and world-class service locally.
Recent Innovations Introduced
In 2014, ThyssenKrupp Elevator presented the ACCEL, a new transportation system capable of attracting up to 30% additional passengers to metro stations and cutting transit times in airports by up to two-thirds. ACCEL is a solution tailored for countries such as Brazil and China, which are experiencing rapid urban development.
Also last year, for the mid and high-rise buildings construction industry, ThyssenKrupp Elevator launched the world’s first rope-free, multi-cabin elevator system, MULTI. By using maglev (linear electro-magnetic) technology from the Transrapid train, this innovation allows the motion of multiple cars in the same shaft both vertically and horizontally, thus giving free rein to architects’
imaginations and increasing transport capacities and efficiency by 50% while reducing the elevator footprint and peak loads from the power supply in buildings.

Arambagh Puja to celebrate the power of women with Real Life Durgas -“DuggAmar-Empowering Women”

· Kamduni Rape Warriors, Widows from Vrindavan, Rape & Acid Survivors, Untouchables from Alwar to inaugurate Arambagh Durga Puja
· Many Living Durgas of India to be felicitated during the Puja
· Delhi to witness a Fibre-Glass Sculpture of an Adivasi woman symbolising Durga-the sculpture is inspired by Dokra-a dying Bengali art form , measuring 40 X 25 feet as the facade of the Pandal
· The eco-friendly Puja recreates mini-Kolkata with food and festivity galore
New Delhi, October 1
4, 2015: Arambagh Puja is known for its uniqueness in sending a social message every year while celebrating the Puja. In 2013 Arambagh Puja’s theme was ‘Buddha & World Peace’ where Late President APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurated the puja, in 2014 it was “Annihilation of Demonic Power”. This year Arambagh is celebrating puja with the Real Life Durgas- “DuggAmar-Empowering Women”- who have successfully overcome all the obstacles in life to achieve their goal or who are still fighting for their right inspite of various social evils. DuggAmar- inspired by Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali, where Dugga with her brother Apu run across a field to see the running train (in Bengali people call Dugga instead of Durga), symbolises courage, hope & inspiration. While we worship Durga, in reality most of the women are subjected to exploitation, violence and humiliation in the family and in the society.
This year’s Arambagh Puja is a silent protest against all forms of violence against women, urges everyone to take pledge to end all forms of violence against women.
Widows, rape & acid attack survivors face humiliation in the society without their fault and looked down upon as unwanted or untouchable. To challenge such idea and restore women’s dignity and respect, Arambagh Puja Samiti has invited widows from Vrindavan, Moushumi Koyal & Tumpa Koyal of Kamduni Pratibad Mancha, Kolkata, sex workers from Sonagachi- Asia’;s largest red-light district in Kolkata, various NGOs such as Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee working for the betterment of sex workers, untouchables from Alwar and many more to inaugurate the puja.
Arambagh Puja in association with Sulabh International have invited fifty widows from Vrindavan to travel to Delhi during Puja so that they can cherish their childhood puja days. Sulabh International under the leadership of Dr Bindeshar Pathak has done some appreciable work for the welfare of the widows in Vrindavan and Alwar , where their plight is immeasurable otherwise.
In a major attraction this year, Puja lovers will witness a 40ft tall Adivasi woman with bow, arrow, sword in her hand, which will serve as the facade of the pandal. The Adivasi woman will represent Durga who has the power to annihilate all violence against women. The organizers want to send out the message that like Durga, a woman is strong enough to punish her violator. The Adivasi Woman is made of fibre-glass and its decoration is inspired by “Dokra”-a dying Bengali art form. A 30*15 sqft chandelier will also be specially designed for the pandal.
The main pandal will have specially designed installations and portraits of ten icons like Astronaut Kalpana Chawla, Boxer Mary Kom, Mother Teresa, Malala Yousafzai, Bhanwari Devi etc. to salute their contribution, bravery and achievements. Arambagh puja samiti will also felicitate some inspiring women at the puja as these are the Real Living Durgas of India.
Eminent painter, sculptor, Partha Biswas and Tushar Kanti Das from Kolkata with 12 students from Government Art College, Kolkata are working non-stop to construct the theme of the pandal and its interiors. While Salil Bhattacharya is making the idol of Maa Durga, two famous artists from Kumartuli have specially come down to New Delhi to design special sarees, ornaments, and decoration for the Pratima. Artistic Director Bapi Bose, one of the most prominent Directors in contemporary Indian theatre, is in charge of lights and effects.
Arambagh Puja is best known for its uniqueness in celebration and creating Kolkata’s environment with the city’s sumptuous cuisines and festivities during the Durga Puja. The Arambagh Puja, which celebrated its silver jubilee in 2013 at a budget of Rs. 1 crore, has consciously decided to keep the budgets low for this year at Rs 50 lakh. The pujas, however, will retain its essence with the same fervour creating a mini-Kolkata to woo puja lovers.
Like previous years, Arambagh Puja has adopted completely eco-friendly ways to celebrate the pujas this year too in its aim to deliver a message to the society that people should learn to cohabit with nature instead of destroying nature. The idols have been made with different kind of materials which have no harmful effects and do not pollute water. From the goddess’ idol to the murals and illustrations on the walls, everything has been made with organic materials. Even the sari of the idol is made up of mud though it looks like an original piece of garment and the entire decoration of the pandal has been done with thermocol and mud. Other eco-friendly materials; such as waste paper, herbal colours, fibre, straw and bamboo has been used, that have minimum impact on the ecology.
Mr Abhijit Bose, Executive Chairman of Arambagh Puja Samiti said, “Our entire Durga Puja arrangements are not only a celebration of Maa Durga, but Manavi Durgas who are an inspiration to all of us. This puja is a call against all the bad practices and violence meted out to women. We urge to end dowry, violence etc against women and other sporadic wickedness in society.”
“ For years, Durga Puja has become one occasion for people to come out, celebrate, meet and greet, have food and go home. We wanted to redefine the concept of celebrations. So we started putting emphasis on social themes and bring cultural personalities to signify the importance of issues such as this. Kolkata’s famed caterers will join Purani Dilli’s counterparts to serve tantalising food. Over a lakh people are expected to hit the pandal.”-Mr. Bose added.
Even the Bhandara which will be served at the pujas, will be prepared by invited chefs from Kolkata.
The cultural activities promise to be an extravaganza with cultural programme in the morning and the evening, with eminent artistes e.g Anushka Dutta Gupta, India’s Got Talent fame Sanjay Mandal and many more from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata performing at ArambaghPuja during different days.
Amit Saha, a folk singer from Bangladesh will also come to perform at Arambagh Puja. Gotipua – a traditional dance form from Odisha is also a major attraction this year.

Vietnam Thursday accused China of sinking one of its fishing boats near disputed islands in the South China Sea, AP reported. A Chinese vessel “slammed into the fishing boat with 10 fishermen on board near the Paracels Islands on September 29 and sank it,” said Phan Huy Hoang, an official in central Quang Ngai province where the fishermen came from. It was not clear if the men who attacked the Vietnamese were from a Chinese government ship.

what s happening in Syria

Islamic State has called on its “youth” supporters world-wide to launch a “Holy War” against US and Russia in retaliation for their “crusader’s war” on Muslims in Syria.Russia has hit “most” of Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL]’s targets, including ammunition and vehicles as it continues anti-terror airstrikes.Calling on “Islamic youth everywhere, ignite jihad against the Russians and the Americans in their crusaders’ war against Muslims,” ISIS spokesperson Abu Mohamed al-Adnani said in a 40-minute-long audio message posted online.
Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) second-in-command, Abu Mutaz Qurashi, was confirmed dead by an IS spokesman on Tuesday. “America is rejoicing over the killing of Abu Mutaz Qurashi and considers this a great victory,” IS spokesman Abu Mohamed Adnani said in an audio record published on jihadist websites. “I will not mourn him… he whose only wish was to die in the name of Allah … he has raised men and left behind heroes who, God willing, are yet to harm America,” he added. Qurashi, whose real name is Fadhil Ahmad Hayali, was announced dead by the US near the city of Mosul on August 18. He was described by the US as “a primary coordinator for moving large amounts of weapons, explosives, vehicles and people between Iraq and Syria”
An air safety draft to come into effect during bombing operations in Syria, drawn up by Russian Defense Ministry, has been forwarded to its US counterparts, the Russian Defense Ministry reports. Russian air-to-surface military operation in Syria began September 30 at the request from the Syrian government. The Syrian Army, backed by Russian airstrikes, has advanced significantly since then.
It is unclear what the US is doing in Syria and why the results of its actions are so insignificant, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told NTV. “We have very few specifics which could explain what the US is exactly doing in Syria and why the results of so many combat sorties are so insignificant,” he said. “With 25,000 sorties one can blow out the whole Syria,” he added. Russia launched its anti-IS military operation in Syria on September 30, at the request of the Syrian government. The US believes that Russia has the wrong strategy, supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad, and does not want to cooperate with Moscow.
