Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals suspended for two years

Supreme Court committee headed by ex-CJI RM Lodha has prescribed punishments for Chennai Super Kings official Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra for being involved in betting in IPL 2013.Suspension of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals comes with immediate effect.
“Rajasthan Royals have damaged the faith of BCCI and the sport and Raj Kundra has been found guilty of misconduct. R Kundra was placing bets through a known punter and was constantly in touch with bookies. Therefore Kundra iis now ineligible from taking part in cricket for five years and suspended for life from being involved with BCCI,” said Justice Lodha.
Misconduct of Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of ex-BCCI chief and CSK owner N. Srinivasan, too, has been proven. “He was part of CSK and by betting he violated anti-corruption code. It is difficult to accept Guru has passion for the game. He also suffered loss of 60 lakh in bets. If Meiyappan’s reputation is tarnished, it is small compared to the damage done to the sport. He has been suspended for life from cricket activities,” added Justice Lodha.
Lodha committee was appointed by a Supreme Court Bench on January 22. Its verdict is final and binding on the BCCI, the promoters and owners of the cash-rich and popular IPL. The final call to implement the decisions of the Lodha panel will rest on the IPL Governing Council.
Interestingly, 2015 was one of the best years for IPL in terms of brand associations and TRPs.
Rajasthan Royals had 15 brand associations, out of which three new brands came on board. It had similar amount of brand associations during the last season. The new brands for Rajasthan Royals include Spice Mobiles, Kalasalingham University from Chennai and security firm CP Plus. Apart from this the team has 9 previous sponsors such as UltraTech, Rupa, Lawman Pg3, Mitashi, TCS, Kingfisher, Pepsi, Deakin University, ICE X and Kooh.
Brands such as FreeCharge and ShopClues.com have come on board as new sponsors for Chennai Super Kings.
Mexican drug lord El Chapo escaped prison
A manhunt is ongoing for one of world’s most powerful drug lords, who escaped a top security prison through a 1.5-km tunnel in dramatic style. Freshly-released video and images offer a glimpse into how this brazen jailbreak was executed.
The guards of the notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin `El Chapo’ Guzman realized something was wrong when their VIP inmate tarried in the shower area of his cell on Saturday night.
The empty cell they eventually examined had a hole in the floor. A ladder led down to an underground tunnel, 10 meters deep and 1.5 kilometers long, which ended in a half-constructed empty house in the fields.

Iran, 6 major powers have reached nuclear deal

The press are starting to arrive at Vienna’s Austria Centre for the announcement of the Iran nuclear deal. ‪#‎IranTalks‬
Iran and six leading world powers have reached a conclusive deal.
The breakthrough was confirmed by a European diplomat, who told TASS that it would be announced “soon. “It was difficult work. The arguing continued throughout the night. At times it was heated, with occasional shouting. But the result should be worth all of that,” a source in the German delegation told TASS.The economic sanctions against Iran would be lifted immediately after verification of its compliance with the deal, reported RIA Novosti citing the draft agreement.
It also said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), UN’s nuclear watchdog, has signed a separate agreement with Tehran on the military aspects of its nuclear activities. Iran and P5+1 group are to hold ministerial-level meetings at least twice a year to evaluate how the agreement is being implemented, according to the draft document, as cited by RIA Novosti
Dear Naresh,
“I love Haldiram’s. Like most Indians, I enjoy their fresh homemade style meals. But I recently found out that they dispose off all the food left at the end of the day …” says Abhimanyu in his petition
“I’ve started this petition, requesting Haldiram’s to start donating unconsumed edible food to a partner charity of their choice – which can then supply it to people who don’t have access to sufficient food and nutrition.”

Haldiram’s: #StopFoodWaste. Donate it instead.

Abhimanyu Shankhdhar
New Delhi, India
I love Haldiram’s. Like most Indians, I enjoy their fresh homemade style meals. But I recently found out that they dispose off all the food left at the end of the day to maintain the freshness.
While I appreciate Haldiram’s commitment to serve fresh food to customers, it seems unacceptable to me that so muchedible food is thrown away everyday – when it can be given to those who need it. Not to forget, when food wastage is also an environmental and natural resource hazard.
So, I’ve started this petition, requesting Haldiram’s to start donating unconsumed edible food to a partner charity of their choice – which can then supply it to people who don’t have access to sufficient food and nutrition.
You can help. Sign my petition and ask Haldiram’s to donate their fresh food instead of discarding it at the end of the day.
According to United Nations annual hunger report, India is now home to the highest number of hungry people in the world, at194 million, surpassing China. In our country where 47% of Indian children are underweight, nutritious meals are a privilege that lakhs can not afford.
Haldiram’s is a household name in India and they’ve managed to keep their food healthy and nutritious over the past few decades. Wouldn’t it be better if instead of throwing away the remaining food at the end of every day, they gave it away to people who would otherwise sleep on an empty stomach? By donating food, Haldiram’s could lead the way for the food industry to do their bit to remove hunger and malnutrition from the country.
Sign my petition and ask Haldiram’s to donate edible food instead of throwing it out daily.
If enough of us sign, we can show Haldiram’s that their customers want them to tackle the food crisis in India by donating leftover food. This way, Haldiram’s can also become a role model for other restaurants to follow suit and who knows, a sizeable portion of urban poverty and hunger in India could be catered to.
Sign this petition. Together, we can create a healthier, more nourished India!
