Ukraine re-introduces mandatory military draft, 18 month service

Ukraine has announced that men between the ages of 20 and 27 would be called up for 18 months of military service starting next spring, the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Aleksander Turchynov, said at a meeting of security officials. The official argued that being practically at a “state of war,” serving in the military for 12 months, as the conscripts did before, is not “sufficient.” Besides that Turchynov announced three more “waves of mobilization” for the purposes of the so-called anti-terrorist operation already dragging for almost 9 months. Earlier in the day, the country’s president Petro Poroshenko, said that the new mobilization will take place in stages, but stressed that these recruits would not have to serve on the frontline.

No one will intimidate, suppress or isolate Russia – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has replied to statements of Russia “having to pay for its position [over Crimea],” saying no country or leader has managed to “intimidate, suppress or isolate Russia,” and no one ever will. Speaking at a Kremlin gala celebrating Security Forces Day, Putin said that the country is constantly threatened to be paying a high price for its “independent position, for supporting its citizens, for Crimea and Sevastopol, and sometimes even for its mere existence.” Reminding of previous failed attempts to subdue Russia over the 20th century, the country’s leader pointed out the situation in the whole world is not stable, with some countries trying to control and interfere with others. Earlier this week, US President Barack Obama authorized sanctions against individuals and entities operating in Russia’s Crimean peninsula, following similar EU actions.

2 New York cops shot dead

Two NYPD officers have been shot dead at point blank range by a suspect who ambushed their patrol car ‘execution style’ in Brooklyn. The perpetrator fled the scene and committed suicide, authorities confirmed.
Both officers have succumbed to gunshot wounds after being admitted to hospital in critical condition, authorities have confirmed.
“Both officers tragically succumbed to their injuries,” Commissioner William Bratton of the New York City Police Department told the press. “Both officers paid the ultimate sacrifice today while protecting the communities they served.”
The two uniformed officers killed on duty were identified as Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. They were sitting in their marked police car on a Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, street corner, allegedly working overtime as part of an anti-terrorism drill.
The attacker came up to their vehicle at around 3pm and shot multiple times through the front passenger window. Both officers suffered critical injuries to the head. Neither officer had a chance to protect themselves and most likely did not even see the attacker.
“With no warning, no provocation,” Bratton said. “They were, quite simply, assassinated.”

  • BJP must reveal whether it has a secret deal with the organisation praising Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin
  • Why are the central govt and BJP silent on provocative statements of Hindu Mahasabha ?
  • Why is the home ministry reluctant to take action when designs of this organisation are absolutely clear
The Aam Aadmi Party dares the BJP to break its silence on whether it has any secret deal with extreme right wing organisations like the Hindu Mahasabha for installation of busts of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin, Nathuram Godse in Delhi and other main cities of the country.
The condemnable statements from such dangerous organisations are increasing everyday and the BJP must reveal whether it had made any such promise before the Lok Sabha elections to get the support of these groups.
It is shocking that the Hindu Mahasabha is openly displaying the bust of the assassin of the father of the nation at its office in central Delhi and a blind eye is being deliberately turned to such a dangerous development.
The reluctance of the central government and the BJP’s top leadership, to condemn the utterances of these hardline groups gives rise to strong apprehensions that they have the silent consent of the ruling party to go ahead with their nefarious designs.
The AAP challenges the BJP to answer the following questions :
1)      Can the BJP deny the statement of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha that after coming to power at the centre, this party is now dilly dallying on its nod to install the busts of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin ?
2)      Does the BJP share the Hindu Mahasabha’s assessment that Nathuram Godse was a nationalist ?
3)      If the BJP does not agree with this assessment, why is the union home ministry not taking any action against the organisation openly praising and planning to felicitate the assassin of father of the nation ?
4)      What is the BJP stand on Nathuram Godse’s open promotion by an organisation which claims to have worked for it during the Lok Sabha elections ?
5)      Why is Delhi Police silent when an organisation is publicly displaying and sending photographs of the bust of Nathuram Godse’s bust from its Mandir Marg office ?

The Aam Aadmi Party will peacefully protest any attempt to praise the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. The party views it as a deliberate attempt to promote extremely intolerant views, which will harm the country’s image across the globe.

Pharmaceutical Industry Expects to create 45000 more jobs

Pharmaceutical Industry Expects to create 45000 more jobs in India in 2015
Pharma professionals addresses the key issues at the IIHMR University’s National Seminar
Editor’s Synopsis:
·         IIHMR University organized a National Seminar on Perspectives in Pharmaceutical Industry: Response of Pharma Education
·         Indian pharmaceutical market to grow by $55 billion by 2020
·         Industry speaks, specializations required at the nascent stage
·         Talks to create collaborative links between Pharma Industry and Academia

Jaipur, 20 December, 2014: India’s globally recognized and leading healthcare research institutions’ of the country, IIHMR, organized a National Seminar on Perspectives in Pharmaceutical Industry: Response of Pharma Education. The event was graced by many Pharmaceutical Industry experts, Principals and Directors of Pharma Colleges of Rajasthan and neighboring states. The Seminar was conducted by IIHMR University in association with Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) Rajasthan State Branch and Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Rajasthan State Branch.
As according to Mc Kinsey report of India Pharma 2015 – Unlocking the Potential of the Indian Pharmaceutical Market, the Pharma industry has immense opportunities and has a projected market growth of  USD 24 billion by 2015 and USD 55 billion by 2020. Through discussions by the Pharma Industry experts it was evolved that Metro and Tier-I markets will make significant contributions to growth, driven by rapid urbanization and greater economic development. Rural markets will grow the fastest driven by step-up from current poor levels of penetration. The hospital segment will increase its share and influence, growing to 25 per cent of the market in 2020.
Dr. B.P Nagori, Vice President- Central APTI, President IPA, Rajasthan, said, “As per the PwC study Indian pharma Inc. the industry is likely to be in the top 10 global markets in value terms by 2020. The overall credit for this development goes to growth factors such as new market creations, growth in the SME sector, enhanced medical infrastructure, pace of innovation in business models, rising consumer incomes and many more. However, with these growing trends the industry is facing many challenges such as need for better talent in the industry, rising customer expectations and restricted discovery and developing process. This seminar was conducted to initiate a dialogue between the Pharma Industry and the Academia to bridge the gap and impart relevant knowledge which will be sustainable in the changing conditions.”
Brig. S. K. Puri, Advisor, IIHMR University, said, “For academia, it is indeed a challenge to transform the students into management professionals. Looking at the growth of the Pharmaceutical Industry, we, at IIHMR, have availed a special management programme – MBA in Pharmaceuticals Management. Since the inception of this programme we have experienced keen interest of industry recruiters in our students. Our placement partners have also motivated us to generate best of the talents that has been appreciated by various organizations globally as well as nationally.”
Dr. Nagori also suggested in his conversation that, “A support system is needed to ensure a focused involvement of both academia and industry. Academic institutions should develop systems and procedures to ensure that industry expectations are met without any compromise on academic aspirations. Industry should give a fresh look to its R&D efforts offered by the academia. Industry should begin interacting with researchers at the stage when they are doctoral students through industry based projects. Industry PhD’s should be teaching in classes since they bring in real world experiences. Apart from classes, biotech/pharma/healthcare industry needs to be on campus with clear offerings for internships. It is also specializations at the B.Pharm level in Industrial Pharmacy and Community Pharmacy. It is observed that there is a major disconnect in the academia output vis-a-vis industry expectations, hence its is evident that students should be given soft skills training and should be trained for employability. Industries should conduct large scale collaborative projects with the students in research institutions as well. We suggest to the Pharma Academia that students need to be groomed as per their areas of interest at the graduate level.”
The seminar concluded with key aspects being discussed such as, Changing Global Regulatory Environment, Opportunities and Challenges in Pharmaceutical Industry, Collaborative Links between Pharma Industry and Academia for Fostering Mutual Growth and Development, Expected Changes In Pharmaceutical Industry 2015 – 2020 & How Educational Institutions Should Gear Up to Meet the Challenges.
