DG Pakistan Maritime
Security Agency Arrives for Annual Dialog with DG Indian Coast Guard
As part of MoU between Governments of
India and Pakistan on safety and security of fishermen and exchange of
information on maritime SAR and environment, a high level delegation, lead by
Director General Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has arrived Delhi for
annual dialog with Indian Coast Guard.
Vice Admiral Anurag G Thapliyal,
Director General Indian Coast Guard will meet the Pakistani delegation headed
by Rear Admiral Ather Mukthar on 19 December at Coast Guard Headquarters, New
Delhi. Other senior officials from GoI and Pakistan High Commission will also be
part of this dialogue. Last year’s meeting was hosted by Pakistan in Karachi on
24 June 2013.
This annual meeting is a significant
link between two maritime agencies, for exchange of information on maritime
boundary violations by fishermen and discussions on coordination issues on
maritime search and rescue and marine environment pollution. The two service
heads from Indian Coast Guard and Pakistan MSA also have a hotline link between
them for regular exchange of information on non-military maritime issues as per
the MoU between the two governments.
