Rahul spoke about Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying that the BJP wants to form a “one-man centric” government at the Centre which is not good for the country.
“The government should not function according to the whims and fancy of a single person. The future of over 120 crore people can be safeguarded with inclusive politics only.”
“The Congress lives in this country’s DNA. BJP’s demand of Congress-free ‘Bharat’ is a vague idea. The BJP seems to have forgotten that Congress alone is a political force which has preserved the social fabric of this country,” he added.
The Gandhi scion told the newspaper that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is different from his party with different ideology and different style of working.
“I don’t agree with many of their recent decisions because our decisions should not be based on short-term gain, instead they should be made keeping the long-term benefit and a secure future for the people,” he was quoted as saying.
He also clarified that his sister, Priyanka, will only campaign in the general elections due in May.
“Apart from being my sister and a dear friend, Priyanka is also an active worker of the Congress. And for these reasons alone, she is helping us in making the organisation a strong and trusted political force. I don’t think she would take any other role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.”
In an interview to Hindi newspaper Dainik Bhaskar, Rahul said that the people of this country would choose their prime minister according to their mandate in the Lok Sabha elections.
“In the national interest, it is necessary that Congress forms the government at the Centre; and in this direction whatever responsibilities the organisation has given me, I will discharge them with utmost sincerity and honesty,” he told the daily.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said today that he is ready to take any responsibility if given and will do whatever the party wants him to do.
Mr Gandhi said, “I’m ready to take any responsibility if given.”
He also expressed hope that Congress party will do well in the next General Elections and his party’s return to power will hold good for the nation.
“Congress is always underestimated, I am confident that it will do well in the next polls, “ he said. “It is in the interest of the country if Congress comes to power,” Rahul Gandhi said.
