SEPANG, 24 August 2013- AirAsia X Berhad, the leading low-cost, long-haul carrier, announced that their first rescue flight from Cairo safely landed on the Malaysian soil at 8.05am yesterday. Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X said “We have been working closely with the National Security Council and other Government agencies to monitor the situation in Cairo, and I am pleased that our team managed to deploy an A330-300 aircraft and operating crew, obtain all the necessary approvals and arrangements, to dispatch the first Malaysian rescue flight to Cairo, given the limited time frame. We focused our efforts to bring our Malaysian students home safely and we are grateful that the flight arrived safely in Kuala Lumpur from Cairo International airport yesterday. AirAsia X expects to deploy a second rescue flight on this week, once confirmed by the Government, and we hope to bring more Malaysians home.”
