Salwan Boys defeat Mumbai’s Anjuman I-Islam Allana Eng School to reach the finals of the U-16 Inter State leg Coca-Cola Cricket Cup

New Delhi, 29 April 2013: Man of the match winner Nitin Tanwar’s unbeaten 104 runs knock helped Delhi’s Salwan Boys School defeat Mumbai’s Anjuman I-Islam Allana English School by 167 runs and reach the finals of the U-16 Inter State leg Coca-Cola Cricket Cup, played at Jamia Milia University, New Delhi, here on Monday.

In the final Delhi’s Salwan Boys will take on Uttar Pradesh’s CAV Inter College, who defeated Madhya Pradesh’s Christian Eminent by 7 wickets.

Anjuman won the toss and elected field first, Salwan Boys opening batsmen made a brilliant start. Shivam Chouhan 42 runs (37b, 7x4), and Vikas Dixit 56 runs (2x4) gave their team a brilliant 98 runs opening partnership stand. One down batsmen Nitin Kanwar scored an unbeaten 104 runs in 120 deliveries with five boundaries. He got good support from Ahmed Kaif, who made unbeaten 44 runs in 40 deliveries with four boundaries. Salwan Boys scored 264 runs, for loss of just 2 wickets in 45 overs.

In reply, Mumbai’s Anjuman I-Islam Allana English School were bundled down in just 97 runs in 35.3 overs. Suraj Rai was the top bowler, who captured 4 wickets for 28 runs in 9 overs, while Anish Ali took 2 wickets in 23 runs. Devendra Verma was the highest scorer with 23 runs for Anjuman.
