Arvind Kejriwal warns Shiela Dikshit not to restrain AAP activists
At the end of the 9th day of his upwaas (fast) Arvind Kejriwal today warned Shiela Dikshit not to attempt to stop Aam Aadmi Party Activists from delivering the protest letters of over 7 lakh troubled Delhi citizens tomorrow morning. Aam Aadmi Party volunteers are planning to reach Shiela Dikshit’s residence in a small group of 272, representing each municipal ward of Delhi. Party Activists have intimated Delhi Police that they would peacefully start from Sundar Nagari at 10.30am, in Auto Rickshaws. DCP, North East, denied permission for the same on the grounds that, “so many Auto rickshaws carrying National Flags cannot be allowed”. Though he failed to explain under which law the same was prohibited.
Responding to this unusual interpretation of an unknown law, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Agar DCP sahab ye kehke gaye hai, iska matlab kahin na kahin Shiela Dikshit ko taklif zaroor ho rahi hai. Main Shiela Dikshit ko ye chetaavni dena chahta hun, ki hume rokne ki koshish na kare. Agar koshish karenge to jaha roke hum vahin baith jayenge, tabtak baithe rahenge jabtak vo hume aage jane na de.”
Arvind Kejriwal said, “Unhone kaha ki Tiranga nahi lagane denge. Jis desh ki sarkar tirange se darti ho, uska kya hoga?”
Till yesterday night, over 6.3 lakh people had signed letters and vowed not to pay the inflated bills in the national capital. The figure is expected to cross 7 lakhs by tonight.
Arvind Kejriwal also appealed to people to visit Aam Aadmi Party’s Satyagrah Kendras across the capital and register their protest by pledging not to pay their bills. He also asked people to collect the letters from these Kendras and ask more and more people to join the movement.
On the ninth day of upwas, Arvind Kejriwal’s health parameters are within normal range. In the evening, his blood pressure wass 109/72, Pulse 72, Sugar 112 and Ketones was 3+.
A silent political revolution has started to take shape in Delhi. The Civil Disobedience movement launched by the Party is slowly spreading its wings across the National Capital. People's association with the movement is now not limited to just signing protest letters to Shiela Dikshit, but they have started to own up the movement as well.
Outside Hauz Khas metro station, two AAP volunteers were distributing protest letters and explaining the need for civil disobedience movement. Initially, out of curiosity, a few people started assembling there to listen to them. Soon the people assembled there not only vowed to not pay their bills, but some even took the protest letters to convince others not to pay their bills. In little time, two volunteers multiplied into 20.
There have been numerous instances where people have left their homes, taken leaves from jobs, shut down their shops just to give time for the movement.
One such person is 35-year old Bhigu Patel who is a volunteer in Tri Nagar area. The enthusiasm of Patel is unmatched. Patel is physically disabled, yet he goes around on his tri-cycle door-to-door creating awareness about the movement. He has installed a loud speaker on his tri-cycle and till date has got around 2000 protest letters signed.
Support is pouring in from all corners of Delhi. Independent Councillor Naresh Baliyan has come out to express his support. Another Councillor Vinod Kumar Binny, from East Delhi has already joined the party and is working full time with volunteers.
