Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process is on for first and second phase
of assembly elections. Our correspondent quoting state election
officials reports that so far 585 candidates have filed their nomination
papers for two phases.
Meanwhile, Communist Party of India and Janata Dal United released their third list of candidates for various constituencies of the state. The Election campaign is also picking up pace in first phase areas. Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi addressed election rallies in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand areas, today.
The Election Commission today started voters' awareness campaign in various districts. Field Publicity Units of Information and Broadcasting Ministry are also organizing rallies and other programme sin rural areas of the State to encourage voters to exercise their franchise.
