Aung San Suu Kyi, visit coastal town of Dawei on a political tour ahead of by-elections on 1 April. President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday said tremendous work needs to be done to move forward on social and economic agenda to achieve fast, economic and sustainable growth. "Our foremost priority is the removal of poverty, hunger and malnutrition, disease and illiteracy. All social welfare programmes must be implemented efficiently. Monday's Amavasya bathing at Sangam

Thousands of pilgrims have arrived at Sangam area for Monday's Amavasya bathing. According to Magh mela officer, about 30 lakh pilgrims have already arrived at Sangam. Elaborate administrative and security arrangements have been made for Monday's bathing. More than 500 night shelters have been arranged for pilgrims at Sangam area. Allahabad correspondent reports from Sangam that 14 companies of PAC, Rapid Action Force, Anti sabotage team and Bomb disposal squad are patrolling Sangam area. CCTV cameras are also installed at various locations for round the clock surveillance. Railways and Road transport departments have arranged special train and bus services for pilgrims.

Mr. Gingrich has seen as the latest champion of the party’s Conservative Right. With 70 per cent of the vote counted, Mr Gingrich had 40 per cent to Mr Romney’s 28 per cent. Correspondents say Mr Romney was widely seen as the frontrunner, but the latest outcome is set to turn the race into a long, hard-fought campaign.

विहिप कार्यकर्ताओं ने 28 बैलों को कसाईयों के चंगुल से मुक्त कराया   ( गौ - बंस के दुश्मनों की गिरफ़्तारी के लिए किया बेगमपुर थाने पर प्रदर्शन ) नई दिल्ली जनवरी 21, 2011। विश्व हिन्दू परिषद व बजरंग दल के कार्यकर्ताओं की सजगता से  आज 28 बैलों को कसाईयों के चंगुल से मुक्त करवाया गया। उत्तरी दिल्ली के बेगम पुर थानान्तर्गत रामा विहार में विहिप कार्यकर्ताओं ने जब कुछ कसाईओं को संदिग्धावस्था में बैलों को ले जाते हुए देखा तो उन्हे रोक कर पूछ-ताछ की। थोडी सी पूछ-ताछ में ही कसाईयों के पैर फ़ूल गये और स्थिति की गंभीरता को भांप वे सभी अपनी 6 गाडियों सहित 28 बैलों को छोड भाग खडे हुए। विहिप के कंझावला जिला मंत्री श्री धर्म वीर बंसल ने बताया कि इसके बाद हमने तुरन्त पुलिस को सूचना दी तथा सभी बैलों को लेकर हमारे कार्यकर्ता निकट के ही बेगम पुर थाने ले आये। थाने में हमने बैलों के अलावा एक महिला व उसके तीन बच्चों को भी पुलिस के हवाले किया जो उन कसाईयों के साथ थे किन्तु पुलिस ने उन्हें गिरफ़्तार करने की बजाय ऐसे ही दाए-बांए कर दिया। देर शाम तक पुलिस ने एफ़ आई आर की कापी नहीं दी। विहिप दिल्...

Swamy's plea to prosecute HM put up for 4th Feb

Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order for 4th February on Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea seeking prosecution of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G scam case.   "Put up for orders on February 4," Special CBI judge O P Saini said after Swamy concluded his arguments in support of his allegations against Chidambaram. During the arguments, Swamy said the evidence he had brought on court's record prima facie show that Chidambaram is equally culpable as former Telecom Minister A Raja, who is facing trial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. "A Raja and P Chidambaram had committed the offence together. Prima facie Chidambaram had conspired and colluded with Raja to commit offence of criminal misconduct," he said. The govt has said it has no plans to censor the Internet even as it sought to send a strong message to social websites like Google and Facebook that any company wishing to operate in the country will have to follow law of the land. The assertion comes amid growing unease among global website and social media companies over the government asking the social websites to ensure that uploading of derogatory material is stopped. "We do not believe in censorship of any kind. All over the world, every company has to operate in accordance with the law. PM asks ministries to prepare skill development plans

Concerned over the state of skill development, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked the ministries to prepare plans for the next year with special focus on skilling needs of minorities, SC, ST and backwards. Chairing a meeting of the National Council on Skill Development, he asked his Cabinet colleagues to focus on sectors like infrastructure, real estate, auto and auto components, textile, healthcare, retail and logistics. Dr Singh asked ministers to keep in mind the skilling needs of people belonging to SC, ST, backward classes, minorities, women and those with disabilities.   "I must say our efforts on skill development side so far have been rather tentative. Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process is on for first and second phase of assembly elections.
