Lindiwe Nonceba Sisulu , the Minister of Human Settlements of the Republic of South Africa, visited India for the first time today, to Celebrate the achievements during 20 years of freedom in South Africa and express gratitude for the support from Indian Government
Addressing media she said, South Africa has achieved most of the goals they had set themselves in past 20 years.Next year South Africa will celebrate 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi struggle and contribution to passive resistance in the continent and collaborate with India to implement this event.Further she added, South Africa’s foreign policy is at power with the international level today, it is intricately twined with the Indian continent and valuable interactions India during BRICS. With the aim to providing stability in the continent, at the local level – South Africa has a crucial role through theAfrican Union established, which is headed by the former minister of foreign affairs at the helm.
On the subject of Women’s Emancipation- she said, South Africa has exceeded expectations in Women’s representation within the country and now implemented a law in which ensures 50% representation of women in every government community/institution in the continent.Praising India she said, South Africa has learnt a lot from India about housing solutions, some of which have been implemented in the continent.
On crucial role of dwelling units for the Citizens in South Africa the citizens are encouraged towards building their own houses.
Minister L.N. Sisulu is the chairperson on board for Slum Dweller International in India. South Africa has recently implemented a National Development Plan inspired by the Indian government-A new policy they are currently working on.
Today South Africa has a progressive constitution and have built women’s corporative in the country to resolve the existing land deficit challenge. South African government appreciates the support from India and intends to maintain the valuable relationship with their counterpart in the future. South Africa has implemented significant projects in infrastructure and housing development and encourages investments from India. South Africa aims to tap into the Indian experience , from the Indian community in the field of science, especially in the area of engineering.
When asked about South African role in Africa Union to bring peace in the region, she explained, The African Pier Review mechanism-South Africa attempts to deepen the spirit of democracy in Africa, via the African Pier Review mechanism where heads of state of each African country shares their report of how they have ensured accountability and participation of citizens in government decisions. South Africa has created an African Union Peace and Security Commission-This is to immediately restore peace in the continent and establish an independentPeace Keeping Force within the continent.Further on she added that neutral team is sent to observe free and fair elections in the states.
Minister L.N. Sisulu said , In order to bring in inter-state trade South Africa has also taken initiatives to establish rail and road infrastructure projects to ensure connectivity and encourage healthy trade to boost the economic growth in some of the impoverished areas of the continent.
