CAIT DECRIED STATEMENT OF MANISH TIWARI FOR MAKING LOBBYING LEGAL IN INDIA
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) while refering to the report published in the media particularly the Times of India today that "not only walmart but 15 other global retailers spent millions for lobbying of thier interest in India" as a shocking and disturbing news which amply reflects the interference of global retailers in shaping economic policies of the Country. Such a situtation demands immediate cognisance of the Government and accordingly the CAIT has demanded a high level and independent probe in to the matter preferably the Parliament Accounts Committee (PAC).
CAIT National President Shri B. C. Bhartia and Shri Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT while taking part in two days national convention of trade leaders of the Country at Jaipur, said in strong words that in the name of reforms the policies and the actions of the Government leads to liberalise and globalise the corruption.International majors in all sectors including Automobile,Insurance,Computer Hardware, Aviation and Retail Trade etc. have all lspent millions of dollars in lobbying for their entry in to respective sectors of Indian economy. It is most shocking that Union I&B Minister Shri Manish Tiwari is strongly advocating legalisation of lobbying in India in lines with lobbying disclosure Act in United States of India.
Both Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal said that such an advocacy in another words is nothing but to promote and legalise corruption in the Country and as such the statement of Shri Tiwari must be condemened in strong words since the Indian culture is predominantly involves the basic fundamentals of social, economic and political justice which is guaranteed under the Constitution of India. The CAIT has demanded that the UPA Government should express in explicit terms that is it the view and policy of the Government of India or the Congress Party ?
The national convention in a unanimous resolution adopted today strongly criticised the statement of Shri Manish Tiwari and demanded an explanation from the Government. It further said that Corruption is the root of economic distortions in the Country and it appears that such a statement is given to please the global giants. The resolution demanded the Prime Minister of India to institute a high level probe in to the reports appeared in media today.
Praveen Khandelwal
