FICCI HEAL 2012, “Universal Healthcare: Dream or Reality?”
August 27 - 29, 2012; FICCI, New Delhi

I am pleased to inform you that Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is organizing 6th FICCI HEAL, its annual Healthcare Conference on August 27 - 29, 2012 at FICCI, New Delhi. The central theme of the Conference is “Universal Healthcare: Dream or Reality?”. The main features of the event are Conference, Master Classes, B2Bs and Poster Presentation.

India aims towards achieving universal health care by 2020. In spite of the increased public spending proposed in the 12th Plan, private out-of-pocket expenditures on health will remain high as compared to other countries in the world. Global experience shows that universal health care is affordable and feasible provided there is sustained public finance. The government has proposed to provide universal health care in the 12th Plan by taking steps to provide free generic drugs at all public health facilities. But, will India be able to live its dream of ‘Quality Healthcare for All’ in the present context, is a question we need to ponder upon.

The Conference would be a conglomeration of policy makers and national and international leaders from healthcare and associated industries with participation of about 350-400 delegates from India and abroad. Our endeavor, through this conference, is to keep universal healthcare as the core theme of the conference and deliberate on the emerging opportunities, challenges and solutions.

We have invited Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and Mr Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations to address the conference. Dr Michael Chamberlain, Chairman, British Medical Journal Group has agreed to deliver the keynote address at the Conference.

Some of the other speakers are: Dr Ayesha Abdullah, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City; Dr Alexander Preker, Head of Health Industry & Investment Policy- Investment Climate Division, World Bank Group; Mr Nachiket Mor, Director, IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health; Dr Girdhar Gyani, CEO, NABH; Dr Balram Bhargav, Executive Director, Stanford India Biodesign Centre, AIIMS; Ms Sangita Reddy, Executive Director-Operations, Apollo Hospitals Group; Mr Shivinder Mohan Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Ltd.
