About the Topic
Mir Mosharraf Hossein (1847-1912), pioneering author of the Musalmani-Bengali novel, was also a social commentator and journalist. In reaction to the socio-political disharmony in Bengal, exacerbated by “cow-protection” movements and the Bengal Tenancy Act of 1885, Hossein penned a series of articles in the periodical Ahmadi in 1888. The articles, collected and published as Go-Jiban (Cow-Life) in pamphlet form, exhorted Muslims to eschew cow-slaughter. This caused vicious controversy. There were protesting editorials in the Akhbar’e Islamia and Hossein was accused of apostasy. He retaliated, instituting a libel-case. The controversy deepened with the publication of a refutation of Go-Jiban by Reazuddin Mashhadi. The periodicals were published in Kushtia and Tangail in rural East Bengal. A study of the controversy, articulated in the vernacular, non-elite public sphere through Musalmani-Bengali periodicals and pamphlets, provides a rare insight into the formation process of political identities and networks of intra-communal information exchange revolving around a religiously sensitive issue.

Minister as Himavan in ‘LuvKush Ramleela’ this Year!
Vijay Sampla-Union Minister of State is all set to play Himavan in ‘LuvKush Ramleela’ this Year!
As per the information revealed in Press Conference by the chairman of LuvKush Ramleela Ashok Aggarwal, it seems like, this Year the Ramleela play will take place in a bigger manner in comparison with last few years. Yes, apart from the Bollywood stars, this year again, Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla, is all set to be the part of the Ramleela as he will be playing the character of Parvati’s father Himavan.
In the recent Press Conference held in Delhi along with Ashok Aggarwal, Vijay Sampla was also there to grace the moment with his presence. As the time is approaching, the entire team of LuvKush Ramleela is gearing up enthusiastically for the biggest blast of the year.
For the same Shri Sampla stated, “I had work in many places as a plumber and what I am today is all because of the blessings of lord Ram. Last year I played the role of a unique king in LuvKush Ramleela and got a huge appreciation from members of mantrimandal my close ones and this is the same reason I want to serve Shree Ram so when I got the opportunity to play Himavan’s role, I worked on it with full dedication”.
Further he added, “I don’t come in Ramleela for my political benefits so I don’t talk anything related to this in the program. This is the second time I am seeing myself in the form of an actor rather than a politician. Again, Ramleela committee gave me an opportunity to play prominent role which feels like Lord Shree Ram himself want me to serve him. Corruption, impurity and superstitions are the biggest Ravan of my life”.
Ashok aggarwal (chairman of Ramleela committee) added, “it is because of lord Ram’s magic that ministers, cricketers and people of different fields plays role in ram leela and some senior ministers in BJP are in contact with bollywood’s prominent and biggest actors and soon they will be seen to play different characters too.
Well, the 40-year-old LuvKush Ramleela will be showcased from 10th October till 21st October 2018.

About the TopicLand acquisition in India and China since the late 1980s has been theorised into an ideal model, the compulsory development, which highlights the extremely active role of the state and its compulsory measures towards land acquisition in both countries for achieving the commitment of development. As a developmental state, either state in both cases acts as the land use planner, regulation maker in the land administration, as well as the major land developer and the monopolistic player in the land market, while at the same time it extracts high proportion of revenue from land development projects, which is realised through a compulsory land acquisition despite of the numerous flaws of the land acquisition institutions. The compulsory development as we term is a key feature in political economy of land acquisition in both countries. It provides an ideal model to penetrate through the dense fog of hybrid phenomena of land acquisition in these two largest developing societies, and to develop a systematic analysis towards land acquisition, or even development in both countries. As the beginning of this research, in this talk, we focus only on the theoretical model of this compulsory development, including its definition, characteristics, and the diverse variations.
