Brazil judge, Lula to remain in prison

Brazil, an appeals court judge has overturned an order of a fellow judge ordering the release of jailed former President Lula da Silva.
Judge Rogerio Favreto had ruled in favour of Lula ordering his release after the followers submitted a habeas corpus application on the former President’s behalf on Friday.
Favreto, the weekend duty judge, argued that Lula had been illegally imprisoned.
Later, top anti-corruption judge Sergio Moro – who originally sentenced Lula in July last year – said, Favreto did not have the power to secure the leftist’s release.
Judge Gebran Neto, then, followed suit and instructed federal police at a prison in Curitiba to keep Lula behind bars.
Though  the 72-year old leader is in jail on corruption charges, he continues to lead opinion polls ahead of October’s President elections. He has vowed that his name will be on the ballot.
Lula says, he is innocent and the case is politically motivated.

Brexit Secretary David Davis resigns

Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbin said David resignation May cabinet get Brexit more bumpy Gov chaos. His tweets
David Davis resigning at such a crucial time shows  has no authority left and is incapable of delivering Brexit. With her Government in chaos, if she clings on, it’s clear she’s more interested in hanging on for her own sake than serving the people of our country.
Brexit Secretary David Davis has resigned from the UK government. The resignation comes days after British Prime Minister Theresa May secured the Cabinet’s backing for her Brexit plan at a meeting at Chequers outside London.
Shortly after Mr Davis’ resignation, his deputy Steve Baker, and another Brexit Minister Suella Braverman also quit.
The development is being seen as a major blow for Ms May as she tries to unite her party behind a plan to retain strong economic ties to the European Union even after leaving the bloc.
In his resignation letter, Mr Davis said, the general direction of policy will leave Britain in at best a weak negotiating position, and possibly an inescapable one.
In her reply, Ms May said, her plan will undoubtedly mean the returning of powers from Brussels to the United Kingdom and was in line with her commitment to leave the European single market and customs union.
The Prime Minister is due to address Parliament today to explain her plan for Britain to adopt EU rules on goods after Brexit.

I am pleased to inform that Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is organizing its annual healthcare conference, the 12th edition of FICCI HEAL, on August 30-31, 2018 at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi. The central theme of the Conference is “Healthcare at Crossroads”.

It witnesses participation of policy makers and more than 500 national and international delegates from top hospital groups, medical technology companies, diagnostic labs, medical innovators, healthcare IT companies.

As the government envisions aspirational reforms in healthcare and moves closer to assuming the role of a payor through the newly launched Ayushman BharatProgram, it is critical to ensure that the increase in healthcare spending translates into better health outcomes and ascertain the role of other stakeholders on the path towards Universal Health Coverage. FICCI HEAL 2018 is an endeavour to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities to not only increase the penetration of quality health services in the country but also bridge the trust deficit amongst the stakeholders for better collaboration in the future.

We have invited the following dignitaries to address the Conference:
