400 people detained across Turkey on suspicion of links to ISIS
Nearly 450 suspected members of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) were detained in nationwide raids in Turkey on Sunday, Turkish Anadolu news agency reported, citing security forces. Police operations were conducted starting from the early morning in at least 18 Turkish provinces, including Istanbul, Izmir, Kilis, Antalya, Diyarbakir, and many others. In the capital, Ankara, at least 60 suspected IS members were detained. Most of the suspects charged with being members of the terrorist group were foreign nationals, the agency reported, citing an anonymous source. The operation is reported to be the biggest so far this year, with Turkey also involved in the military campaign against IS in Syria.
