Prelude :

The Draft National education Policy has been prepared by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) for revamping the structure of education of India. The reason bearing in mind that India is growing fast under the new government and there is a growing need to match and better the Indian Education when compared to the Common Minimum International Standard of Education, making the student, ready to graduate with an International perspective. This will be resulting in easy acceptability in the international manpower resource pool.

Background:

The Draft National education Policy was notified for Public Comments on 31st July, 2016 and has had consultations within the public and Private areas but, in our opinion not sufficient. 1986 was the first time when India made a Education policy and this is the first time, the NDA government under the leadership of Sh. Narendra Modi, is bringing about a revolutionary change in the system of Education of India.

Format of the Roundtable:

Closed Door, Invitation only to a Select group of attendees pre-profiled.

Process of Consultation:

Blade-BRAINS™ Group and CMAI will bring together the group of people in a Multi Stake Holder Environment for providing inputs to the policy 2016. For this purpose, there will be discussions, and best practice sharing on the topics centered below:

  • Teacher Education in IT & Telecom basics for contributing to a Digitally skilled India;
  • Right to Education in IT basics at schools level for making a Digital Ready Future;
  • Review of other policy points in the Draft Policy, and collections of Multi-Stake-Holder Comments for Inputs to government of India.
  • Out of box suggestions to bring back India to the glory of ancient times, when India was known world over for education like Nalanda, Takshila etc.
  • Suggestions on budget utilization in the education sector, Center vs State vs private Universities/Institutes.
  • Curriculum and its alignment to skills, economic earning activities, national pride.
  • Any other topic as may be found suitable.

Post the resignation of the Chief Minister and the reconstitution of the Council of Ministers in the Gujarat Assembly, Gujarat Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 25 Ministers including the newly elected Chief Minister from the Gujarat State Assembly.Please find below a summary of the analysis:

Criminal Background

            Ministers with Criminal Cases: 10 (40%) out of the 25 Ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves.
·         Ministers with Serious Criminal Cases: Out of the 10 Ministers who have declared criminal cases, 5 have declared serious criminal cases. These cases include murder, attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity etc. 

Financial Background

·         Crorepati Ministers: Out of the 25 Ministers, 21 (84%) are crorepatis.
·         Average Assets: The average assets of 25 Ministers is Rs 7.81 crores.
·      Ministers with Highest Assets: The minister with the highest declared total assets is Solanki Parshottmbhai Odhavjibhai from Bhavnagar Rural constituency with assets worth Rs. 37.61 crores. The top three Ministers with highest declared assets are:
