Three Union Ministers come out in support of boxer Sarita Devi
Three Union Ministers have come out in support of boxer Sarita Devi as the Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal sought a report from the Indian Olympic Association on pugilist’s controversial loss against Korean boxer in the semi-final of the Asian Games in Incheon.
Mr. Sonowal told reporters on Wednesday that they have sought a detailed report from the Indian Olympic Association on Sarita’s case and will take further steps after receiving the report.
Minister of State for Home, Kiran Rijiju said that Indian officials should have been more pro-active in lodging a protest to the Asian Games Organizing Committee.
Minister of State for North East Region Affairs, General (Retd.) V K Singh said that our delegation there should have taken up the issue at the right time.
