Fresh exchange of firing along the LOC

Pakistan has agreed for the Brigadier-level flag meeting with India over the recent violations of ceasefire along the line of control.
The meeting will be held at Poonch sector on Monday afternoon.
In that area, there are four local hotlines between the two sides including Chakkan da Bagh, Uri, Balnoi and Tangdhar.
Meanwhile, Defence Secretary and the National Security Advisor have apprised the Prime Minister of the current situation on the LoC.
Defence Minister AK Antony said yesterday that there are enough troops in Jammu and Kashmir and the government is taking all steps to protect the interests of the country.

The Minister said, the government is closely monitoring the developments and troops are on alert.
Official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi said that Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad during his meeting with Pakistan Foreign Secretary stressed the need for holding the sanctity of LoC and adherence of the Shimla Agreement to sort out bilateral issues.
The spokesperson also reiterated India’s position that it was capable of resolving the issue bilaterally and rejected the role of the UN or any third party.
He also noted that DGMO’s of both the countries were in regular touch.
Talking to news persons on the sidelines of NCC Republic Day Camp in Delhi, he said that any ceasefire violation is completely unacceptable and the situation is being monitored.
Condemning the incident, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said that the government is addressing the issue with full seriousness and the concerned department is taking necessary steps to deal with it.
Addressing news persons in Mumbai, the Minister said that this is a sensitive issue concerning the country and the incident has angered not only public but the government as well.
