Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, demanding political reforms.Protesters rallied in squares in the central part of the capital on
Saturday, and then marched along the streets, calling for clean
politics.Police blocked the roads and used tear gas and water cannons to stop the protesters. Some demonstrators were arrested.One of the protesters said the public is tired of corruption and rigged elections.
Opposition parties are stepping up criticism of the ruling coalition
that has governed Malaysia for more than half a century. They accuse the
Malay-led coalition of vote buying and other election fraud.
Tension between the ruling and opposition blocs is growing amid
speculation that Prime Minister Najib Razak may soon dissolve parliament
for a snap election.
