Taiwanese protest China's influence

Taiwanese protest China's  influence,tens of thousands of people in Taiwan have protested against China's influence over the island's media.Police said about 70,000 took part in Sunday's rally in Taipei that was organized by the largest opposition Democratic Progressive Party.

One of Taiwan's  newspapers, the Apple Daily, was sold last November by a Hong Kong media group to Want Want China Holdings and several other firms.Want Want China Holdings is regarded as pro-China. It owns another major newspaper and two broadcasting companies in Taiwan. Apple Daily was known for publishing articles that were critical of the Chinese government.The demonstrators raised a banner saying that Taiwan's residents are entitled to have more than one voice.
