Saffron Leaders meet King of Bhutan
To promote Indo – Bhutan Friendship
BJP, RSS & VHP Leaders greet Bhutan Monarch at Delhi

New Delhi, 29th Jan 2013:  BJP Overseas Affairs Convenor Mr. Vijay Jolly in a press statement stated that Senior Saffron leaders delegation of BJP, RSS & VHP leaders met His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at New Delhi today.

BJP leader Mr. Jolly stated that Chief Patron VHP Int’l Shri. Ashok Singhal, All India BJP Gen. Sec Shri.Vijay Goel, RSS Paracharak Shri Indresh Kumar along with OFBJP central committee members Mr Bhupinder Kansil & Dr (Mrs.) Abhilasha Sharma besides Mr. Jolly met The Bhutan King this morning at Taj Palace hotel, New Delhi. The saffron leaders had an hour long meeting with the Bhutan monarch.

A oil painting of the Royal couple of Bhutan by a Delhi Study Group artist was presented by BJP Overseas & Foreign Affairs Convenor Mr. Vijay Jolly to the King of Bhutan. VHP Leader Mr. Ashok Singhal presented and wrapped a colorful chunari and gave him blessings. RSS Paracharak Shri. Indresh Kumar presented a shawl & Ganesha framed picture. While BJP Gen. Sec. Mr. Vijay Goel greeted the King with a colorful bouquet. OFBJP member Dr. Abhilasha presented a pashmina shawl for her Majesty the Queen Ashi Jetsun Pema Wangchuck.  

Indo–Bhutan Friendship treaty and the pro-active role in 1950’s by the then King of Bhutan His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck was fondly remembered. Bhutan army’s action to flush out anti India insurgents from Bhutan territory, continued support of Bhutan for India to be a member of the UN Security Council and importance of India in the success of SAARC was appreciated by the Indian saffron leaders.

The Bhutan King specially mentioned that a grand Hindu temple is being built in Southern Bhutan and it was started just after his marriage to Queen Ashi Jetsun Pema Wangchuck on 13th Oct 2011. Mr. Ashok Singhal suggested that the King should visit Mahakumbh in Allahabad and seek blessings of divine Hindu Gods. The king promised to do so soon. Strong Indo-Bhutan ties and support to multi party democracy in Bhutan were reiterated by the Indian leaders to the King of Bhutan. He promised that the interests of India & Indians in Bhutan shall always be protected.
