India, Singapore express satisfaction over bilateral economic relations

India and Singapore have expressed satisfaction over their bilateral economic relations, including the growing flow of investments between the two countries. In a statement issued after the second meeting of the India-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee, JMC, for Bilateral Cooperation, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said that relations between the two countries are broad-based and multi-faceted. Co-chaired by his counterpart, Foreign Affairs Minister of Singapore, K Shanmugam, the JMC also discussed cooperation in the areas of Science and Technology, education including skills development, training and culture, among others. During the meeting, both sides expressed the common desire to seek new areas of cooperation that would take the partnership to an even higher level. Both sides also look forward to the ASEAN-India

Commemorative Summit to be held in New Delhi in December this year. Correspondent reports that India-Singapore ties have been built with a healthy exchange of visits between leaders and officials of the two countries and have shared vision of the value and importance of the relationship.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Singapore in November last year and New Delhi has invited Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong to India in July this year.
